When will the so called "actor" Tom Hanks apologize?

To my recollection Tom Hanks has played a homosexual man with HIV without actually being either a) a homosexual man nor b) having HIV, he has played a mentally challenged person without being mentally challenged and I won't even get into what was going on with his character in Big - but surely it was NEVER acceptable for a fully grown man to be playing a child!

Anyway when do you think Tom will issue a statement formally apologising for taking roles from people who were 100% more entitled to be playing them than he was?

reply

Should he also apologise for pretending to be a Space Capsule Captain, and he is not even an Astronaut.
How about for being a Ship Captain, TWICE if you don't mind, and he probably struggles with an aluminum tinny.
What about being a Captain of an Army platoon and he wasn't even born during WW2.
Or how about discovering Jesus' descendant and not even being a Catholic.
Someone has to be held responsible for these transgressions!
It's a crime against humanity and who is thinking about the children!

reply

There are many roles undefined by race or gender which he could play (if he was capable of acting) asides from himself.

However gay and mentally challenged parts should be played by those with that experience in order for us to see their truth in the characters.

Tom has though morphed into quite the portly figure these days. So perhaps (in the style of one of these earlier roles that he should now be apologizing for once playing) he could throw himself legitimately into playing an obese character.

He could bring some real truth to such a role and we could shed tears watching him struggle with the nightmarish day to day realities of those afflicted with that condition. e.g. getting pointed at and laughed at, not fitting into public transport seating, etc.

reply

Does that also apply to Daniel Day Lewis in 'My Left Foot'?
You expect a gay man with HIV to be able to drop whatever job they usually do to become an actor, while trying to cope with a terminal disease?
Using your logic, career actors are not required. Just use the real people to put their experiences on film.
Are you serious? You're getting offended because you want to be offended. Or you are trolling.
You don't like Tom Hanks? Fine. But your arguments to back up your dislike of him are absurd.

reply

You've given a pretty poor counter example here. Yeah, sure one could "act" at imagining they'd lost a limb in much the same way as one could "act" at playing a Fireman, a Doctor, etc.

But surely you can comprehend how that is completely different to saying sure go ahead, "act" at being gay, transgender, or whatever. There is no authenticity Tom Hanks can bring to these roles and, not only that, to today's more refined sensibilities it's seen as plain offensive.

So Tom Hanks, yes, play a fat man and bring your portly truth to that role but do not thieve someone else's work attempting to represent something you are not.

reply

Then there is no point in anyone being a career actor.
We agree to disagree.

reply

Oh, shut the fuck up, you moron.

reply

All the MoronChat idiots who don't recognized a good trolling!

reply

There is no such thing as a good troll ... unless of course you mean a dead troll?

reply

Only when you apologize for being born.

reply

Wrong! He apologized first...

reply

Take your pills boy. Your Mom and I will be up to check on you later.

reply

Amazing comeback... Only you clearly never bother reading the update to this thread before posting.

See if you can dig out your reading glasses and give it a read... Talking of pills though, best taking yours and giving it an hour or two first.

One thing though - please don't just lazily respond with another "keep taking the pills" or "yer ma" (seriously, what are you twelve? 😂) line. Literally one step up from some garbage "butthurt" style comeback. Try showing us a bit of your no doubt incredible intellect...

Good luck buddy 👍

reply

Looks like we're gonna have to up your dosage. You might feel some side effects, just so you know. Don't worry son, we won't give up on you.

reply

Jeez, this is just plain lazy...

You obviously cannot even be bothered to read the update, even although you thought yourself to be so clever in your initial comment 😂 (which at the time I didn't even think was worth responding to). So you're not worth playing with.

Good luck to you Sir 👍

reply

I'm playing with your Mom right now. I'll be up to spank you later

reply

Why does Tom Hanks have to live up to your bizarre and trollish vision of the world and what he should do? Constant posts like this from your Right-wing nuts who get such delight in thinking up such waste of time comments.

reply

Apart from the usual rightwing/nazi/incel accusations, what is your take on this matter? A variety of actors have "apologized" recently for these kind of casting choices in the past. So the question why one of the most prolific actors around has been silent and seems to get a pass, is legitimate.

It's funny you said that and that this particular thread was bumped today of all days as elsewhere I'd been discussing this case:-
https://eu.usatoday.com/story/life/health-wellness/2021/09/02/sarah-paulson-linda-tripp-fat-suit-problematic-impeachment-american-crime-story/5666133001/

Sarah Paulson has apologised for wearing a fat suit when the role should have been given to a real life person of fatness. She is ashamed of taking advantage of her slender figure privilege to steal the role.

Despite some people's naive notions this IS the real world, right now and yes, Tom Hanks should not be above apologizing.

reply

When will Ryan O'Neal finally apologize for his utterly offensive "portrayal" of General Gavin in "A Bridge Too Far"?

reply

LOL @ "a real life person of fatness."

You've made my day.

reply

As I implied, Hanks has nothing to apologize for. There is no pass, there is no problem, there is only Right-wing nuts trying to stir up stuff to make an issue out of nothing. Who is complaining about this again? Nobody? Exactly.

reply

Well the aforementioned actors had to and DID apologize (because some left wing nuts demanded it) but Hanks didn't. Good for him.

reply

You cannot read any of your nonsense into any of these events or situations unless you can differentiate and classify them in some way. Why is it you people can only think in one dimension? What was the reason the others apologized and how do you apply that to Hanks? I think you're just seeing things that are not there.

reply

Jesus Christ..🙄 what's the reason the others apologized?! The same reason demanding something similar from Tom Hanks: none. There is no reason, its utter bullshit. Lunatic, crazy, braindead stuff, just like this thread.

reply

Spot on AckbarsRevenge.

reply

And he played Sully even though he wasn't a pilot. Shame Tom!

Wow, he did apologize!

Will an apology for Forrest Gump follow?

reply

He def needs to apologise for Gump stealing best picture director actor from Pulp Fiction/Tarantino/Travolta

reply

FootOfDavros, LMAO, just listen to you you fucking offended wokie snowflake prick. Fuck off.

reply

Lol, LMAO indeed - Tom Hanks has now apologized (see my post above yours), so you're kind of wasting your time getting all worked up / offended by what I wrote in the OP two years ago now.

It has quite literally come to pass...
