Why are people omitting the fact that he lost too?

He has to pay her because she didn't lie about being a victim of domestic violence.

reply

Hers is bigger than his.

reply

That's not the point, though

reply

The point is he didn’t lose at all. The jury found that there was mutual responsibility by both parties but overwhelmingly rewarded him. She or her legal team failed to adequately substantiate her claims of abuse and he proved that he lost money, future deals and his reputation was damaged. They did see something in her claim and that’s why she got $2M. Big whoop.

You must remember she filed for divorce and won $7M. They signed NDAs. The marriage was bad. Both abusive. Why she felt she had to donate the $7M is what I don’t understand. But writing the op-ed was an error in judgment on her part and it was defamatory.

It's the stupidest verdict I've ever seen. They only threw her a bone because you just can't have a female lose to a man in this day and age. The jurists we're probably scared that they'd be invaded by the me too crazies. God forbid a man could just win out over a female. He was the clear winner throughout the proceedings. It's shameful.

I'm surprised the jury hasn't been doxxed yet.

$2 million vs $15 million

reply

Still lost.

reply

Hard to call that a loss. It essentially means Depp will get 13 million from Heard.

reply

Because even when women are shown to be liars, society isn't entirely willing to condemn them.

This was a step in the right direction though.

reply

still wish that every accusation by a women would end up in court.

reply

mental illness is the scapegoat

reply

Pretty sure the bish can take it out of the $8m or whatever she owes him LOL.

reply

He has to pay because the jury decided his lawyer was acting as his spokesperson when he accused Amber and her friends of trashing the apartment themselves. Not because she was a victim of domestic violence, as anyone who has followed the trial at all knows full well at this point.

reply

Probably because that's a misrepresentation of what the jury actually found. They didn't find 'she didn't lie about being a victim of domestic violence.'

Depp could not have won on his three claims if they had reached that conclusion.

Heard won on one count of her counterclaim. It was the claim that Heard had effectively attempted to hoax the police. This specific claim was found to be false, per the evidence and testimony of law enforcement officers. The attending officers said in court that they found no evidence of a hoax, because they found no evidence of anything and Heard failed to cooperate.

So the jury found she didn't attempt to hoax the police. Which is a fair conclusion.

So, yes, Depp lost too -- on one specific claim -- but broadening that to the jury finding 'she didn't lie about being a victim of domestic violence' is wholly contradicted by the two counts on which Heard lost in her counterclaim. And the fact that Depp could not have won his own suit had the jury believed that.

reply

this is incorrect, as other's will describe much better than me. Depp also won't have to pay her anything. He got a winning of 1.3 million while she only got 2 million. So amber loses while Depp gains 8 million. He probably won't see any of that but that's not the point. The point is, the man's character has been vindicated and Amber shown to be a psycho. That's work more than any amount of money.
