Brilliantly unpredictable I'm pretty sure this is actually Outsider Art Stunning... Unironically a near-masterpiece Could have been a minor masterpiece, if not for the ending So, about that TV series, then...? Surprised at the bad reviews What was up with the weird colors for blood? Good film, but... Almost seems like two different movies stitched together View all posts >

That's the reason I have no interest in this show. Fallout 1 and 2 were among my favorite games of all time. I must've sunk entire months of playing time on each of them. "Fallout" 3, despite my willingness to ignore all the jarring stylistic and narrative changes, couldn't hold my attention beyond a couple of hours, and New Vegas, despite all the praise it usually gets from my fellow angry and impossible-to-please fans, wasn't much better as, some of the original creators being involved or not, it didn't play anything like an actual Fallout game. When I heard about this show, my first thought was "yeah, it's going to be based on F3 onwards, isn't it?" It didn't take me more than one look at the Vault Suits to answer that question. Frequencies (2013). I generally have a hard time settling on numerical ratings, but 8/10 seems about right for this one. I have to wonder, given the downright Shakespearean level of subtlety and nuance that went into people's and places' names in the last so-called "Mad Max" movie, what Hemsworth's character is going to be called... "The Patriarchy"? I'm a bit of a board game nerd, and a huge fan of modern Eurogames. It's kinda hard to pick a single favorite, but I guess right now I'd go with The Castles of Burgundy: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/84876/the-castles-of-burgundy Beats the hell out of me too, but it's the way it's been forever now. Hell, the creator of friggin' Pac-Man, Toru Iwatani, is on the record saying his basic idea for that game was to make something that would appeal to male and female audiences alike... and I don't think I've ever come across a single female Pac-Man fan even though it has existed for two years longer than me. Last book I read was See Under: Love, by David Grossman. Currently I'm halfway through Neighbors, by Thomas Berger. Next up on my list is The Old Axolotl, by Jacek Dukaj. Just watched the first episode yesterday; it held my attention all the way through even though I've already read the book, and left me wanting more. I don't know if I'll keep watching, but if I do it'll be this version. Well, since you insist... The whitewashing is the very reason I haven't bothered with this at all. It's a Chinese story, about Chinese characters, by a Chinese author. If you're going to change that, might as well go ahead and call it something else, as far as I'm concerned. Oh, for God's sake... couldn't we leave a good thing well enough alone? Just for once? Mr. Nobody would be a serious contender for a top 10 spot for me. Loved House of Flying Daggers and I'm a Cyborg but that's OK as well, and The Neverending Story is just a timeless classic. View all replies >
