I don't recall seeing any of those. They are hilarious to watch.

reply

These are pretty badass, I ain’t gonna lie.

Props.

I was going to post one of "Cal Worthington and his dog Spot" L.A. car dealer, and I stumbled across this.

"Take a fucking car like this."

reply

Cal was in Phoenix, Arizona, too, when I lived there.

When I was in the military in the 1980s I was stationed in Southern California for a while and remember those commercials

reply

Who can forget his annoying jingle?? If I remember correctly, he sold the Dodge brand in Phoenix.

I remember a couple of those 👍

reply

The Iron Eyes Cody public service announcement is legendary.

reply

The crying Indian? I vaguely remember that one. Mid 70s?

reply

Yep, 70s.

Turns out--later in the episode--that knowing Iron Eyes Cody isn't an Indian is like knowing James Caan isn't Italian :)

reply

Yep, I read that Cody was of Italian descent. His sister (I think) said he was not Native American, but he denied her claim.

reply

The "spicy meatball" commercial, while well known, was considered a failure. Didn't improve Alka Seltzer sales. People who watched it would remember it as a sauce commercial. Although, ironically, no one could tell you what sauce it was supposed to be selling.

reply

Interesting--I did not know that.

Another Iron Eyes Cody I found

I once watched a video of late 70s commercials. One guy in the comments said something like 'i need to watch these to feel normal. I cry watching these. I reject the current world we live in which is terrible. This is the world to which I belong when society was wholesome and normal".

To him home wasn't just a place, it was also an era.

Clark Kent/Superman and Kellogg's cereal

The vintage ones are real novelty👍

reply

Yep, the ones with George Reeves and in some, Jimmy Olson and Perry White :)

The Ginsu!

I actually have one and the knock-off. The Ginsu cuts bread better but the knock-off cuts cheese better.

Shaq Burger King commercial 🍔

reply

I challenge anyone to name one item that dude has not been in an ad for.

This is my personal favourite ad of his:

reply

Shaq is an ad whore for sure. BTW - I haven't seen that one before 🤣👍

reply

It's apparently AI generated. If that's what we're up against, I think we can handle Skynet.

reply

Yup, that's downright cartoonish..

reply

Although, is it weird that I want a Shaq Shaker?
