Absolutely NO discussion about writers/actors striking???

Even if we conveniently don't mention all the support industries that will be devastated by film productions closing, does everyone here have no problem with screenwriters and now actors wanting more money/benefits/residuals, etc. for their work?

All the early indicators are saying this could last at least into September/October. While there are enough completed productions "in the can" that will continue to be released for the rest of this year, eventually there will be nothing new. How long will watching old movies/TV shows satisfy us?

There has been a little discussion, it didn't last.

That may change, I've heard a rumor that the suits are taking a "Starve them out" stance. Stay tuned.

Naw, we're too busy discussing what flavor popsicle we'd like to be.

They could all go away forever as far as I'm concerned.

We have a massive pile of previous work to digest and there are other countries who can offer us entertainment if we are really hard up for new stuff.

No, let's talk about Trump and Shittenhouse

i don't think we are in the golden era of movie making. i just watched asteroid city which felt like a bad cartoon.

So, like every Anderson movie.

reply

exactly.

reply

Glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't like Anderson.

I don't know - I went a year during Covid with no new movies or shows on TV and somehow I survived. I certainly feel bad for people and services that are being impacted by the strike, but not much I can do about it.

I have no idea if their demands are reasonable or not, but I really can exist w/o anything new for a while.

Same, honestly. My watch list has unfortunately gotten so big that I'm good for a good long while.

reply

I normally watch older films so it really doesn’t matter to me.

Congrats on 1000 posts.

Thanks - it only took six years!
