What are some special dishes from the region you live in?
My city is known for its deep dish pizza, hot dogs, barbecue, pizza puffs, and whole bunch of other stuff.

shareThere are many Cajun and Creole dishes here in souls Louisiana that originate from this area.
shareNew York - Pizza, Hot Dogs, Bagels, Cheesecake, Jewish Deli sandwiches (may I recommend the corned beef)
Reno (where I live now) - Basque cuisine (but we are down to one restaurant now)

Also, sliced cow udder on a bun. Which actually doesn't taste as bad as it sounds. A very mild flavour, kind of like fricandeau.
A couple of places in L.A. claim they invented the French Dip/Beef Dip Sandwich

Also, See's Candies began in L.A.
Other than mentioned, I can’t think of any dishes native to L.A., but I had never seen a chili cheeseburger or (appropriately enough) a chili dog before coming here. That said, though I love chili, burgers and dogs separately, I don’t consider the combos special.
I could die happy eating only the plethora of Mexican cuisine here. Standouts being huevos con chorizo, pozole rojo, coctel de pulpo, and cabeza or lengua tacos.
For me, there's nothing like a good chile relleno, but for some reason they are hard to find, most places do not cook them right.
Some people claim that the Fortune Cookie was created in L.A. It seems that the cookie we know today was definitely created in California...
"San Francisco's Court of Historical Review attempted to settle the dispute in 1983. During the proceedings, a fortune cookie was introduced as a piece of evidence with a message reading, "S.F. Judge who rules for L.A. Not Very Smart Cookie"."

Apparently the first version originated in Japan, and then from Japanese immigrants to California. It became associated with "Chinese food" during WWII, when USA was at war with Japan.
Love a chile relleno, but any dish containing melted cheese doesn’t have to try too hard to earn my affection. Agreed that the pepper has to achieve a certain near-char to be truly great.
And fascinating about the fortune cookie. The more you know!
The cheeseburger was invented in Los Angeles!!! Who knew?
Yeah, I'm a native Angelino.

I had to Google that, she says she was joking...either she is great at deadpan humor, or she is embarrassed by her answer.
