TV Shows that were canceled too early

A Minute with Stan Hooper

Very funny Newhart like show starring Norm MacDonald

Best of the West

Pre Silver Spoons Joel Higgins western comedy

Neither show was on DVD and not streaming anywhere.

reply

Pan Am and The Playboy Club, I recall liking both.

reply

Pan Am was good. I think it drew the unlucky lot of being an ABC show? They were always canning good shows and keeping garbage around. Show like that takes years to build an audience. Needed to be on cable.

There was a show that started in 2000 called "Titus". It lasted 50 something episodes, but Fox pulled it off the air when the lead actor and creator bad mouthed the execs. It was a show that would turn from hilarious comedy to a depressing drama within seconds.

reply

I liked that show although by the final season it got weird and more depressing. I remember I started watching it around 2017 as I was waiting for my ride to go on a cruise. I was so into the show that I didn't want to leave it lol!

That guy is kind of odd in general. I saw some of his stand up routines and some of them are more like therapy and can be dark and serious.

reply

It was based on his life. His mom was mentally unstable who murdered someone, his dad was a womanizer who got married many times, his sister killed herself. I can see why he his humour is that dark. His standup isn't great, but that show was a gem.

reply

That was a good show.

reply

That was a terrible show.

reply

Nah, it was great. Maybe you didn't like it because it got too depressing at times.

reply

The humour just wasn't funny and the guy was really annoying.🤷‍♀️

reply

He wasn't a great actor but his character was a little childish.

reply

I don't remember this show at all, but I found this tidbit on the IMDB page:

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, Christopher Titus released the entire series and all his comedy specials to his YouTube channel to watch for free."

reply

I found out about that. Too bad be talks a little bit before some of the episodes.

reply

I heard one of his standup shows . His divorce also cost him a cool 3 million

reply

That's a shame because she was abusive to him.

reply

Mortal Kombat: Conquest.

reply

Canceled for a good reason. It was shit!

reply

I liked id. But I think they should've start with Scorpion and Sub-Zero instead of Kung Lao and Tanja.

reply

I was watching this show outer range that might be canceled after 1 season. It tries a little too hard to be quirky at times, but I liked it. I got into it after a while anyway.

reply

I like Outer Range too. It's weird but gripping.

reply

I gave that show a shaky thumbs up. Ultimately, I found the performances of the stellar cast to be quite compelling. It carries the shaky plot along. I'll definitely watch more of that.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😤😠😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
S.W.A.T.!!!!!!!! 😤😠😡🤬
Cliffhangers!!!!!!!! 😤😠😡🤬
My So-Called Life!!!! 😤😠😡🤬

reply

My So-Called Life probably ended at the right time. I think part of its reputation is owed to the short run.

Yeah. So often when we lament TV shows being "cancelled before their time", we overlook the many series that stayed on the air entirely too long. Better to do one great season, and then go out on top, even though I wasn't a fan of MSCL

reply

Which SWAT? Did they can Shemar?

reply

I'm talking about the OG.

reply

Ah, it only got one season if I recall correctly?

reply

2 seasons (one and a half really as it was a mid-season replacement). It was a crime cancelling that show.

reply

Really? That and Emergency! were my favorite shows back when I first started watching TV(also Kolchak:The Night Stalker which also belongs on this list...)

reply

Well if we're gonna talk about My So-Called Life then we also have to talk about Firefly.

BSG: Do you mean the old one or the "new" one? I thought the new one went for its planned run. Felt like they lost the plot a little bit but it was fun while it lasted.

reply

Again, I was talking about the OG.

I liked Best of the West. The two things I remember the most vividly were Frog, and Joel Higgins's wife kept sweeping the floor and complaining that it wouldn't come clean and he's like Elvira, it's a dirt floor!!
