LATEST - Today (Jan 25th) my daughter said, "Why's the tree still up, it's weird!" I think it's just a matter of time now, lol.

STOP PRESS - IT’S DOWN!
I therefore declare MonStar and 10200 joint winners as they were the closest.

I don't know, but I just have to chime in that even as a male, I hate the term "THE wife". Even though "My Wife" does sound more possessive, for some reason "THE WIFE" just sounds demeaning, putting her on the same level as "the dog", or "the couch".

Just my $0.02.

reply

I wanted to retain her anonymity.

reply

Sorry, that makes no sense.

reply

I didn’t want to use her name like I would irl.

reply

"My wife" instead of "The wife" ??

reply

It's meant to be a fun thread, so I chose to use a more vaudeville reference to add to the comedy.

Anyway, you haven't picked a date and it's still up.

reply

You and I have very different senses of humor, I guess. I'll just quit while I'm behind, and let this conversation die!

reply

I'd like to upgrade to the $0.03 package that includes a suggested alternative that doesn't bother you.

reply

OK, My $0.03 worth:

My wife instead of The wife ??

reply

That's inconsiderate towards people that don't have wives. No need to BRAG about YOUR wife!

reply

So possessive! She isn't an object.

reply

yeah just say waifu

You might end up doing what I did one year when I had a lot going on in my life and was extremely busy. I moved the Christmas tree to a far corner of the room and draped a bed sheet over it. So it was actually up for almost 14 months but was covered so I couldn't see it. I'm not making this up.

reply

This! Is! Genius!

reply

🙂

I had a coworker who told me that his parents or in-laws (I can't remember which) had a large closet in which they stored their Christmas tree. They had a rolling tree stand... here's an example: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1369/1919/products/TK-10259_08_4d877d6a-3ac7-4d20-a9d6-52837a3a31ed.jpg?v=1480690095
They would leave all the decorations and lights in place and just wheel the entire thing into this closet, shut the door, and be done with it. They must have lived in a large house to have that much closet space in the main/living/sitting room. The following Christmas, all they had to do was roll it out and plug it in.

reply

but the main fun is to decorate it

reply

Only if you are a kid or have little kids.

reply

tree still up? does it have any needles left?

reply

It’s a plastic one.

reply

so you can keep it all year. nice

reply

It can be our Easter Tree next.

reply

yeah redecorate with eggs and set a new trend

reply

Is it coming down tonight

reply

In your dreams.

reply

It’s my day

reply

Stop calling my wife.

reply

I won’t

reply

I've put her on divert; it's actually me you're speaking to.

reply

It’s still up, lol.

reply

February 13, 2022. There goes your plans to turn it into a Valentines Day tree.

reply

There’s always next year.

reply

I’m impressed but sort of sad it’s over…It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer test drives the car past the empty fuel gauge slash and just keeps on going lol

‘I never felt so alive!’

reply

I had a good run. All my friends who were in on the joke found it funny.

reply

It was Legendary

You have to do this every year😀

How is Sunny Bournemouth today?
We got 4 inches of snow over here and the wind is real nasty…we’re at 28 F right now but feels way colder

reply

You realise it was up for over 3 months, lol.

It’s been a dog of a day here - wind and rain, down to about 9C/48F (which I know is nothing compared to what a lot of the regs on here experience). We only get snow of any significance about once every 5 years.

reply

Any guy who keeps a tree up for 1/4 of the year without getting strangled by the wife is a Legend🏆

Yeah, I don’t like the Winter but we only have maybe 5 or 6 more weeks of the nasty stuff, then glorious Spring! The Robins will return, the bulbs will be popping, tree frogs will sing…it’s all gonna work out fine

reply

It’s getting lighter in the mornings. That’s one thing I don’t like - waking up and it’s still pitch black.

reply

Yeah, I hate to turn the bedroom light on because I always wake up my Lady but it can’t be helped…If I don’t I’ll wind up with my socks over my shoes😁

reply

Are your wife and daughter pleased?

reply

They are indeed - I think I may have come out of this looking good by taking it down today.

reply

Man, I was next on the list!
Good job everyone!

reply

Feb 13 at about tea time.

reply

Too late! It’s all over!

reply

It is now!

reply

reinstall to easter

reply

It’s too late - it’s packed away.

reply

excuses ;)
