So depressing that summer is ending

Really annoying that there are only 3 good months out of the year. This is coming from someone who generally can’t stand it when it’s too hot, however I have learned to enjoy it with my kayaking and fishing. Now it is my favorite time of the year, nothing in the other seasons brings me this much enjoyment.

People will tell you to move someplace warmer, but with warmer climates come dangerous animals that make my hobby difficult to enjoy as freely as I do. Not to mention the summer is unbearable in those places, so you really can’t win.

I find the bleak, gray off season depressing and if we get another spike in covid with flu season and a subsequent lockdown it will make it even more difficult.

YOU WHINE A LOT.🙂

Nuh uh. Only when he posts. ;)

🤣🤣

reply

aw come on ,some of it was positive.

reply

There are still five full weeks of summer left. Fall starts on September 22nd.

reply

Hell yeah good call

reply

Frankly I prefer spring and fall to Summer and winter. Though I have enjoyed swimming in the summer. I only got to do it once this summer though.

reply

That’s the main reason I like it, swimming

reply

It’s not so much the weather that defines summer. I live in a warm climate but this time of year, even in normal times, always feels sad. Schools start up in mid-August, the daylight hours get noticeably shorter, and everyone has that get-back-to-business attitude so you feel like a slacker if you take time off.

reply

Yeah exactly

reply

Summer is my least favorite season! It has its pluses, for sure, but it is still my least favorite.

(If I lived in a more rural area as opposed to a city I might feel differently--cities get awfully noisy in the summer)

reply

Same here. I like spring, but not summer. Fall and the first month of winter are my favorites, mainly because it involves the holiday season (which I define as kicking off with Halloween and ending with New Years Day).

reply

I'm glad its almost over as it been the most fucked up summer in my life due to COVID. I only hope we are in a better place a year from now.

reply

Howso did your plans get cancelled?

reply

I had no major plans. I'm just annoyed by the mask mandates, people who blindly accept authoritarianism from our government, and want this nightmare to be over.

reply

You don’t think there’s science behind it?

reply

I don't nor do I believe I'm expected to act like a paranoid germaphobe the rest of my life. I live under a mask mandate and do my part just fine, I think my governor is an idiot because she's trying to collapse the economy on purpose in hopes that it'll oust the Orange Man.

reply

LMAO...YOU SIR,JUST IDENTIFIED YOURSELF AS PART OF THE PROBLEM,NOT THE SOLUTION.🙂

reply

Yep. There's a reason why countries like the US where people don't want to wear masks have the virus so much worse than countries where people aren't acting like children about it. "I DON'T WANNA". Pretty much every country on Earth is taking this pandemic seriously, except for the US and a few other places similar to the US with extreme-right governments and lots of selfish hyper-individualists who refuse to listen to scientific consensus because they think they know better.

reply

Yet somehow, even with the mask-wars, things are getting better fast.

reply

"Yet somehow, despite the anti mask morons, things are getting better."

FTFY

reply

Same difference.

reply

Things are getting better? How?

reply

Deaths way down, cases down, businesses reopening in huge wave, economy ramping back up. It looks good. Bad news for some people though. They better get spinning.

reply

Bad news for who?

reply

There's a lot of arrogance in the U.S. and it seems to be getting worse. There's this growing attitude that the problems affecting the entire planet do no apply to America, that the nation exists in its own little special world. This can be seen in the country's reactions to issues ranging from serious global threats like climate change and COVID-19, to more mundane things like refusal to adopt the metric system.

This is why the U.S. is no longer a respected, world-leading nation.

Mid April to mid November is generally nice where I live in southern Ohio. We've had a lot of rain this year and July was a scorcher. I'm enjoying the weather right now - the humidity is gone and temps are cool overnight and in the morning. I love September and October.

I don't believe we will ever have another lockdown like we did in the spring. Never say never, but I don't that happening.

reply

Yeah hopefully not

reply

I feel the same but for winter. Soon it's going to get as hot as fuck in Australia. Which sucks when you work in a big metal shed.
