Yet these same rapists in prison, they had wives or girlfriends (sometimes with children) outside the prison. Would they still be considered straight in that case?
And to those who say "Rape is about violence. Not sex". Okay, but if a man gets "hard" and is able to ejaculate into another man, isn't that not gay?

shareIt's called "Situational Homosexuality," and is sadly, very common in men's prisons. Chances are, most of the inmates in there are not gay at all, so the rape occurs for two reasons:
1 - It's done by men who are extremely desperate for a sexual fix, since they locked far away from women, including their girlfriends or wives. They'll do anything to get their pent-up tension released, including doing things they normally hate or would avoid in the outside world.
2 - It's about dominance. Some inmates are sick enough to use this as a way of bullying and dominating other inmates into being subservient to them, establishing a sort of pecking order. This is why many new inmates usually try to create a buddy system if they can, but not everyone is that lucky. (Strangely enough, this is often the reason why animals in the wild sometimes engage in homosexual behavior. It's a show of dominance, rather than same-sex "romance").

I disagree, or that would mean 100% gay men would turn to females out of desperation. Certain sexual preference(s); gay/ bi/ straight have a meaning; and the theory is that sexual preference cannot be changed. Sex is supposedly not just about how the pleasurable sensation, but WHO (gender) you are having sex with.
shareMost gay men are not in prison....at least I hope they aren't. You need to think about the environment these guys are in. They're stuck in a giant, concrete building, stuck in small rooms, usually with 1-3 male roommates, they can't leave, they have no access to women (save for brief visits from relatives/girlfriends), and every part of their day is regulated, based on however the prison is run. What are the chances of your hypothetical 100% gay men turning to women out of desperation in an environment like that? Things are very different on the Inside compared to the rest of the world. You're also using a subject that is way out of context of what we were originally discussing.
shareI may not have been clear. I didn't mean that most gay men are in prison. But please don't tell what I need to think about, I know what a prison is like. I was using the reciprocal of a man who is 100% gay, and unlikely turning to women for sex if he was desperate and isolated enough (even though realistically he would not be in a women's' prison)
With the exception of bisexuality, I don't understand how the cause=affect applies regardless of the isolated desperate environment, since sexual=preference is separate from the actual physical pleasure--and that sexual-preference cannot be changed no matter how much effort you put into trying. People are not animals either, and would just hump their prison-roommate because they exist in the same cell.
You need to remember that prison does a lot of psychological damage to most of the inmates, whether they be male or female. Even the strong-willed people have issues after leaving (if they aren't lifers). It can scar them for life. That environment causes them to change in ways they would never do out in the real world, and it shows after they leave. Many who get out have a form of PTSD they have to live with the rest of their lives. Prison changes you, causes you to do things on the Inside you never would have done in the real world.
The exception to this rule, are people who are put into prison because they are psychologically messed up to start with, and are a danger to society.
