What movies (old or new) are you planning on watching this weekend?

I'm currently watching Captain America: The First Avenger on Disney+. I might go see Knives Out tomorrow. I also want to see A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Other movies I am considering watching this weekend:

The Irishman
The Knight Before Christmas
Let it Snow
Dolemite is My Name
The Beach Bum
If Beale Street Could Talk
The Kid Who Would Be King
Son of Batman
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, & Her Lover
The Wonders
A Face in the Crowd
Give a Girl a Break
Cabin in the Sky
12 Dates of Christmas
Candleshoe
Phantom of the Megaplex
Melody Time
The Nine Lives of Christmas
Road to Christmas
Christmas on the Coast

What are you planning/hoping to watch this weekend?

reply

Since we're going to get a dump of snow tonight and tomorrow, I'm ready for a few Christmas ones:

The Santa Clause
Home Alone
A Charlie Brown Christmas (yeah, it was a TV special originally, but still...)
White Christmas
Love Actually
It's A Wonderful Life

reply

I'm not a fan of Love Actually, but I like the other ones you mentioned.

reply

I get it - chick flick. 😉

reply

I like a lot of films considered "chick flicks" but I really didn't enjoy that one.

reply

I am bingeing a Netflix series The Spy (2019)

reply

I haven't seen that series, but it sounds like it might be interesting.

reply

Based on the life of an Israeli spy who infiltrates the Syrian government in the 1960s. Sacha Baron Cohen is really good in the lead role.

reply

I loved it. Highly recommended.

reply

I finished it today. A fine performance from Cohen.

reply

The Irishman and Dolemite is My Name are both excellent movies, enjoy Allaby!

I'm going to rewatch Blow and Drive and probably some random horrors on Prime

reply

The Knight Before Christmas??

reply

It is a new Netflix comedy about a medieval knight transported to present day.

reply

Wow it's a real movie!

reply

Just saw Frozen 2 with my daughter

reply

I saw Frozen II last weekend and really enjoyed it. What did you and your daughter think of it?

reply

It was really good, just not the Truly Fantastic, monster of all movies that some people have been playing it up to be.

reply

I've organised a group of parents / daughters for tonight - I even managed to get 9 seats in a row!

I plan to see "The Irishman", cause it's on Netflix. Tonight I saw "Home for the Holidays" on DVD. It was awful: 5.5/10.

I really enjoyed H4tH in the theater when it was new (and I was with a new date). I'm sorry it hasn't met the test of time. Yes it's cheesy like a made for TV movie but I like Holly Hunter and RDJ and I thought it was a heartfelt romp. Oh well.

reply

i'm going to see knives out this afternoon.

i watched cemetery of splendor again yesterday evening, even though i'd seen it about 4 or 5 months back. it's getting yanked from criterion on december 1st, so i figured i'd better take the opportunity for one more viewing while i could.

i'm probably going to watch red dawn (the 84 version, of course) tonight. it's the greatest terrible movie ever made imo.

you might be the killer is getting pulled from shudder tomorrow, so i might give that a rewatch. it's a fun, silly horror film that i enjoyed a lot when i caught it a few years back.

other possibilities:

saturday night fever
i lost my body (just added to netflix - heard great things)
track 29
echo in the canyon
a face in the crowd
cache
delicatessen

reply

Two thumbs up for Red Dawn (1984)!

reply

reply
