reply

incorrect.

reply

Well, that's like... your opinion, man.

reply

it's not a matter of opinion. they became famous b/c people felt the film was so good. Rocky isnt infamous.

reply

Film isn't bad. Scenario is.

reply

that's not really the question the OP is asking

if we were talking about films with unlikely scenarios, you might put this one forth -- but that list would be endless.

the cast of Rocky isn't famous b/c the movie is so bad.

reply

This aggression will not stand... man.

Talia Shire only got popular because her brother directed "The Godfather" and put his sister in a pretty big role, and when a movie becomes a hit, they'll employ her for her cache, and probably BECAUSE of her brother. He employed his dad, and later his nephew who couldn't act for shit.

Burt Young usually played the same role, but I thought he was good. I thought Stallone was real good in "Rocky" but haven't liked him in any other movie. The first 20 minutes of Rambo is pretty good, though.

AND make a movie about the making of the movie

reply

With The Room you have taken one of the best examples you scoundrel😉
Here then is a trifecta...

Tom Laughlin 'starred' in the Billy Jack series during the 70s...He was a 'Nam hero, martial arts expert and nature-hippy warrior' guy...He was also supposed to be a Native American but he looked way whiter than both of my Irish granpas combined...whatever, I was willing to go along with it

The films got progressively worse...
Billy Jack (71) was good drive-in fare
The Trial of Billy Jack (74) was awful
Billy Jack Goes to Washington (77) was a roundhouse kick to all common sense...preachy, silly and I'd wager the cocaine budget far exceeded the cost of production

Each is an example of brilliant, stupid bullshit

I'm possibly forgetting one more Billy Jack film but that's because Baby Jesus loves me

reply

I was just thinking of Billy Jack a few days ago when I was trying to think of fairly obscure movies from my childhood. I think I saw the second one at the theater when I was a little kid.

reply

Yeah, they were of varying quality
I'm not even sure if the guy really knew martial arts at all
Fun, goofy movies overall
Good 'laundry day' films when you can be in and out and not miss much

In the mid-1970s I heard Tom Laughlin give a talk. I forget what festival or speaking series it was, I just had a summer job cleaning up the place. He was rambling and incredibly boring.

reply

His heart seemed to be in the right place given all of his activism but yeah, he did seem like a preachy type

reply

Agreed.

reply

Just about everything that Pauly Shore did?

reply

he's awful, but his mom owned "The Comedy Store", so they have to put him in every comedy special now.

reply

He was famous before those movies.

reply

People usually disappear after a really bad movie.

reply

Damn, that sounded sinister:)

reply

Kim Kardashian.
