Alien Resurrection
Terminator Genisys
Independence Day Resurgence

Sequels actually suck for the most part. Most horror movie and action movie sequels have been totally unnecessary. Jaws, Halloween, Speed, etc.

I do love Scream 2, but 3 and 4 are just crap.

Many will disagree, but I think Back to the Future II and III did not need be made either.

My original post was about sequels that did not need to be made, regardless of their quality. I, too, consider most sequels are bad. It just sometimes good ones happened, and I believe it's worth the shot to do a sequel if there is a chance to make something good out of it.

Resurrection, Genisys and Resurgence on the other hand do not even have sound ideas. The movies went literally nowhere and added nothing to the franchise. Even Godfather 3 or Police Academy's (or Sharknado's) bazzilions sequels have something to offer to the audience.

Amen.

reply

I don't know, once they put to be continued at the end of the film they kind of had to make BTTF 2 at least :)

reply

That bit was only added with the release of the VHS tape.

The original ending was just a joke and they had basically written themselves into a corner with that.

reply

A corner with pulled-out pockets. I didn’t even like the first one. The sequels were like kidney stones. The only good time-travel movies that I have seen are the ORIGINAL (George Pal-produced) Time Machine and, believe it or not, Van Damme’s TimeCop. All the others have been too cute by half.

reply

I’ll let that go

Amen.

Jaws 3 💩
Jaws The Revenge 💩💩💩💩💩
CHUD II 💩💩💩

reply

Even Jaw II., it would have been fine, but, they went to a thousand teenagers and it died on the vine.

And the little shits could not act.

reply

Jaws 2 isn't too bad apart from a few of those teens and the helicopter pilots facial hair. It's a masterpiece compared to 3 & 4 though 👍

reply

Jaws is not complete without having a high school band performing at a venue in some form.

reply

👍

reply

It also isn't complete without a shark that roars like a dinosaur and explodes for no reason XD!

reply

Good one! (^=^)
Don't forget Bruce the shark's unsustainable love for Martha Stewart's vineyard.

reply

Jaws 3 is a masterpiece when you compare it to Jaws The Revenge, UGH!!

reply

It certainly is

reply

That exploding 3-D skull sequence was amazingly bad, unforgettable even!

The Last Jedi

Both AVP films

Amityville Horror
Jaws
Nightmare on Elm Street

There was really no need for a part II + for any of them as they all told a self contined scary story perfectly well

reply

Speaking of which... the Matrix sequels. Though the Animatrix was a welcome addition.

reply

I liked the Matrix sequels. While I agree that they were inferior to the original, I never understood the level of negativity that they seem to trigger.

reply

I like the very ending, with the truce. I thought that was a pretty brave way to finish it.

reply

I could never watch the Matrix films-
I had a nasty girlfriend in College for two semesters who just LIVED for that movie and i swore i would never watch anything Matrix😂

20 years later...keeping my word like a proper Irishman✊🏻

I like A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2 because it stands out from the rest.

reply

Fair enough👍

Blade Runner 2049

reply

I could not agree more

reply

Ditto. It was beyond boring and derivative.
