TV series challenge,ladies and gentlemen!

Someone will post a line from a tv show and the others will quess what it is

I'll start

"Indeed"

reply

This show had the following voiceover before every episode, provided by Don LaFontaine, summarizing the plot of the series:

"He was a cop, and good at his job, but he committed the ultimate sin—and testified against other cops gone bad. Cops that tried to kill him, but got the woman he loved instead. Framed for murder, now he prowls the badlands...an outlaw hunting outlaws...a bounty hunter...a RENEGADE."

A 90s action-drama series that satisfies a mixed martial arts/biker fix. Created by Stephen J. Cannell.

reply

Renegade.

reply

You got it.

"Bobby, this whole thing is getting weird" - Vince Black (Reno Raines)

reply

She: Boy or girl? BOY OR GIRL??
He: It's a head!
....
He: It's a boy. No, it's a girl, it's a girl!

reply

I know this one but I can't place it.

reply

This might give it away, but it's a British show.

reply

I think it did give it away, if it's Coupling.

reply

Nice try, but no.

"She" is a mother giving birth. "He" is the doctor delivering the baby.

reply

I got nothing

reply

I've been trying to figure this one out for a while. I highly doubt this is it:

Rosemary's Baby TV miniseries?

reply

Sorry, no. This might give it away, but it's a British show.

reply

Not my forte but is it Fawlty Towers?

reply

Nice try, but no.

reply

"She" is a mother giving birth. "He" is the doctor delivering the baby.

reply

Okay, doubt this is correct, but I'll guess A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

reply

I have never heard of A Bit of Fry & Laurie.

Another clue - this show has both comedy and drama. Also, very popular.

reply

I know you love British detective shows. Sounds like it could be a sketch from Monty Python's Flying Circus.

reply

I do, but this show is a departure for me from the detective genre. Oh, and it's a show that is still in production. Dates back to 2004.

reply

Well, I'd have to guess Doctor Who in that case. Although if you include the original series, it goes back to the 60s.

reply

Is it part of the PBS lineup?

reply

I don't think so. Sorry, no TV here - cable or otherwise - so I can't say for sure. I looked on the PBS website but I don't see it.

reply

I used to watch A Bit of Fry & Laurie back in the 90s. The only bit I can remember, though, is a talk show parody skit that began with Stephen Fry in a suit basically looking like himself saying, "Hello, I'm Oprah Winfrey." I thought that was absolutely hilarous at the time.

reply

You've made me curious. I'll have to check it out.

reply

That sketch is actually on Youtube, but without the funny introduction.☹

reply

My library has this on DVD so I've added to my "check this out" list.

reply

An early 50s B&W western series starring Pat Conway as the lead.

The opening to the shows intro includes:

This is the way it happened in the town to tough to die - [title appears] (said by the newspaper owner of this town's Epitaph)

reply

"Tombstone Territory?"

reply

You got it.

[closing partial lyrics]
Whistle me up a melody, back to where I want to be, whistle me a tune that will carry me to Tombstone Territory-

reply

I should have let it pass,,,it was my father's favorite Western.

reply

Sounds like we're in the same boat - my father's too.

reply

" Someday , I gotta have a long talk with that boy "

reply

Dang, sounds familiar but I can't place it.

reply

"Beverly Hillbillies?" Jed about Jethro.

reply

Never gets old - classic

reply

NOW I remember... 🙄

😊

reply

"Arrest the first naked guy you see with a dirty mouth."

reply

Is it a comedy like Reno 911 or Files from the Police Squad?

reply

It is a comedy about police -you are almost there

reply

There's a lot of them that fit this bill. Is it from the 70s/80s? If so, could it be Barney Miller?

reply

You got it , twinA - Barney Miller , one of my favorites

reply

(Name), you may not be who you are!

(Name redacted because it makes it too obvious.)

reply

Okay, hint: it's science fictiony.

reply

The Incredible Hulk?

reply

More recent than that by 10-15 years.

reply

Same show, different episode.

"I was merely extending her a professional courtesy."
"Oh, is that what you were extending?"

reply

"We'll be like Tracy and Hepburn. 'What do you say, you old poop?' "
"Oh god, he's Hepburn."

reply

The Lethal Weapon TV series?

reply

I didn't even know about that. No, more of a sitcom. Although, not exactly a typical sitcom.

reply

Arrested Development?

Have not seen this show, hear it's a hit and a miss with most people, very clever with subtle jokes and humor that may require more than a single viewing.

The Lethal Weapon TV series is worth watching if you like the movies, not a complete rig-off or a total reboot, feel the actors catch the likeness of the main characters (Murtaugh and Riggs) while putting their own spin on it.

reply

Yeah, this one is from Arrested Development, it's Tobias and Lindsey. If you were to classify Arrested Development as a sitcom, it's the best one I ever saw, but it does break most of the sitcom conventions, other than being about a family and being funny.

reply

"Hello caller...I'm listening".
