Do you go to "sit-down" restaurants by yourself?

I'm usually accompanied by my parents and sometimes siblings for restaurants like Wildfire, but I wouldn't mind going to such places by myself.

reply

I do, but I stand up

reply

Hehe!

reply

A rebel
I get it

reply

[deleted]

how old are you ??

reply

Why do you ask?

reply

accompanied by parents makes you seem young - nothing wrong with that.

reply

I'm actually almost 32. Yeah, yeah...I know. But I need to find a steady job....

reply

Yes.

😎

reply

I was trying to think of the last time I actually went to a restaurant alone. My wife and I do everything together.

reply

That's adorable hownos.
No boy's nights out ?

reply

boy's night out with me would be boring - I usually end up being the DD.

reply

Do you still get together with your hockey buds?

reply

Everything?

😎

reply

when it comes to going out it seems.

reply

Okay. Whatever floats your boat.

😎

reply

I used to go all the time .
Traveling on business if you want a good meal you don't have a choice.
Now maybe for lunch once in a great while.
I also don't eat out much at all anymore.

reply

I'm the same... A lot when travelling (can be fun, but it usually just necessary)... Rarely when home...

I still eat out a lot when home, but i'll have a friend, a colleague or a date join me...

reply

To me the first step in cooking is to grab the car keys.

😎

reply

Me too. Leave the cooking to the experts, I say!

That said, I rarely go to sit-down restaurants alone, even when traveling by myself. If there isn't something more fun to do that sit there waiting for my dinner to arrive, there's work to do or photos to process, better to bring takeout back to my hotel room than eat out at a real restaurant.

reply

Yes. If I'm dining alone I usually sit at the bar. It's cool because I can watch sports on the TV.

BTW, say hi to Pinto and Flounder for me!

😎

reply

Ah, but I quit drinking years and years ago, no bars for me!

So obviously, I'm not part of Delta Tau Chi, and BTW that's not where I got the name. It's something more personal.

reply

Your drinking days are over?

Over?? Did you say over? Nothing is over til we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor??

Germans?

Forget it, he's rolling.

The last several years I've had a blast cooking and coming up with new recipes.
Hit or miss it's always fun.

I was getting into the bad habit of going to these elite restaurants that you pay
$200 for a meal and wine. Then you go home and are still hungry.
What's the point?

When I do go out now it's mostly to dive bars or off the grid places.
I love finding a hole in the wall place that makes amazing food.

reply

Yeah, I appreciate good food whether it's in a fancy restaurant or just street food...

Home cooking is fantastic and I'm lucky to have good food at home when I'm not on the road...

reply

What would be cool would be to do that on your birthday and slip the wait staff a note that reads, "It's my birthday."

Then aks for an ashtray.

reply

When I was much younger I had to go on courses in London, it was daunting as I'm from a very small place.
Staying in a hotel alone I soon realised that I'd have to muster the courage to dine alone, so I took a book and went and had dinner on my own and it was fine.

reply

If you take a pad and pencil with you and make notes during the meal
people will think you are reviewing the meal.

reply

Nope. I actually don't like eating out in public and I certainly don't like doing it alone.

reply

You're never alone.

Just watch the live feed of you eating and it's like your eating with thousands.

reply

Okay, I will try that next time. But I'm going to share the bill with all you pervs.

reply

"Perv" is such a subjective term.
I prefer art in motion.

You're bill need never be a problem.

quid pro quo

reply

"So all right no contest we'll order lobster"

reply

I would expect nothing less.

Although you did say "we'll" .
I thought you were alone.

reply

I thought you pervy fans we're going to keep me company? Of course, I'll be the only one actually eating it.

reply

Not really company in the general sense.
You'll be there eating lobster and glistening from the butter and all that .
The rest will be there in spirit I guess you could call it.

You would be watching the feed of you eating.
Which should be enough for anybody.

It's kind of like one of those fun house mirror things.
You could see 1,000 Strategos eating lobster and glistening.
It would go on forever as many hope it would.
You and you're little bib.

reply

I'll definitely need a bib. A big one. I'm a very messy eater. That melted butter will end up all over me!

reply

Oh, don't you hate that!

It gets on your hair, your ears, your neck, your toes and your TEETH.

They used to call me "the napkin".
I still don't know what they meant by that.

reply

I guess I'll just have to ask Shogie to help me out, he likes to get sweaty.

reply

You'll have to do what you need to do.

No matter what, you always know I'll be there to clean up any mess
you get yourself into.
When ever you need The Cleaner you just let me know.

The words I say can be silver
But what's left unsaid can be gold
So get to know me once I go away

reply

Okay, you can clean up after me. Just put on some rubber gloves. It could get messy.

reply

Gloves ??????? NO !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a firm believer in finger lickin good.

reply

Okay, suit it yourself. It's nothing but messy leftovers. The good stuff's for Shogie.

reply

He deserves it. He's a good man.

I'm here if ever you fall.

reply

Good to know. I fall quite a lot. May be the alcohol.

reply

Good to know.
I'm usually already on the ground waiting for you.

Definitely the alcohol.

reply

Good God! You and Stratego are killing me here! It all started with her glistening with butter. My cat thinks I have gone mad here! I'm giggling like a fool! I am laughing so hard, I'm crying!
I wouldn't say that this is derailing since you are talking about eating out.
I will say that you two can come brighten any future threads I may start!
Thank you both for starting my day with more than just a smile.
Now I must go and convince my cat that I am safe to be with!

reply

Don't you hate that.
My dogs know for a fact I've gone mad.

That's a good point. Still keeping with the eating out theme.
I like the way you think.

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll there in some form or another.
