What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?

For me, it's a toss up between the green bean casserole and the yams with the marshmallows on top. Yummy!!! :)

Bourbon.

In general I'm not a big fan of traditional Thanksgiving side dishes. EXCEPT, velvety and creamy mashed potatoes, and a well done gravy. I could almost forgo the turkey for that.

OMG! This whole thread is making me HUNGRY!!!!! Side dishes????
Mine is a toss up between Green Bean Casserole and good ole Sausage Stuffing!
I make extra of both each year so that I can have leftovers the rest of the weekend.
I must also have plenty of Pumpkin Pie. I do not eat that for desert. That is for breakfast the next day........ and the next...... I'm weird!

For desert: apple pie with French vanilla ice cream, or mincemeat pie with real whipped cream, or VERY COLD AND HARD chocolate ice cream with real hot fudge sauce, topped with a marinated cherry, and a Spanish Coffee (freshly brewed and freshly-ground Colombian beans, with Kalua and Martel Cordon Bleu cognac, served in a snifter, the rim of which has been been coated with glazed brown sugar.) One must have standards, you know.

reply

Yes! One must have standards!
I have just finished my dinner.... about an hour ago.
May I join you in desert?????

Please, be my guest.

I only serve traditional side dishes; the kind that would have been at the first Thanksgiving. So it's either Lasagna (the Indians brought that) or Mac 'N Cheese (Pilgrims brought that).

In any case, whoever came up with the idea of putting those rancid canned onion onto a green bean casserole should be burned at the stake.

Haha!!! That's hilarious! You're cool!!! :)

HEY! I want to shake that person's hand! I'd do it even if I had to dig him/her up out of the earth.
We LOVE "putting those rancid canned onions onto a green bean casserole" AND mixing it with cream of mushroom soup.
We all have our favorites. I understand that this isn't one of yours.

Lolol:)))

I could eat a really good, creamy, silky mashed potatoes and gravy all day long. I love mashed potatoes, but they have to be really smooth and gorgeous, I don't like them mealy. I used to whip ranch dressing into mine. Yum.

For dessert, pumpkin pie with mountains of Cool Whip on top. I love pecan pie too but only in small doses as it's overly-sweet.
