Do you prefer going to the movies alone or with people?

Personally I prefer alone. I go to a movie to watch, not talk. I especially can't stand those large groups of like 10 people who go see a movie together, walk in 10 minutes into the movie, take another 10 minutes to find their seats, all while talking and using their phone's flashlight, and continue trying to talk their friend who's 5 seats down from them.

What about you?

reply

If it's a matinee usually alone. A movie is one place that's designed to go alone because you are supposed to be QUIET! Unless it's a drive in but those hardly exist anymore!

reply

Yeah that behavior is hateful!
I almost got my ass kicked telling a bunch of kids behind me to stfu during Princess Bride a long time ago
I hate dickheads at the theater

reply

I prefer to go with my sister. I like to have someone to talk to immediately after the movie.

reply

That's what we have this site for lol

reply

But I have to wait ages before I get a reply! And I always turn off my phone anyway.

reply

That's your answer😉

In my area, it feels awkward; however, I have been able to do it. Now, not so much. Ever since Regal has changed their point policy, I have stopped going. Better option is to bootleg and watch movies for free at home.

reply

You watch bootlegged movies? I remember I tried that with a friend once and the quality was horrible. The bootlegs of films still in theaters are from someone who recorded it in the theater with their phone, no? Can't image that would be enjoyable watching.

reply

Both. If I'm the only one really interested, I prefer to go it alone. It's still fun. I also enjoy empty theaters for films that wouldn't have audience reaction.

reply

Empty theaters are the best - it feels like a big private screening room!

reply

Lol, it does!

Alone unless I'm dating someone who REALLY has bad social skills. If they are too quiet, movies are a good excuse to sit in silence without it being awkward. If they are too talkative, movies are a good excuse to shut them up.

reply

Haha that made me laugh. It works both ways. If your date is too quiet, a movie is good because it doesn't involve talking. If you're date is too talkative, a movie is a good way to shut them up.

reply

Theaters are dark so it's good for nymphos too.

reply

Alone mainly. I'm a single man with only a few friends, and most of them aren't huge movie buffs like I am. They go only like once a year, while I try to go a couple times a month. I also like to view low budget independent films, which nobody seems to like anyways.

reply

Most of the time with a person or few out of conveniences. Especially family members. I also never minded going to the movies alone at times either.
