I enjoyed it. I didn't realized it was actually a two-parter movie when I saw the title card. The worldbuilding and story was certainly interesting and it was also a bit hard to follow on the first watch, coming from someone who has never read the book or saw the 1984 film before. It also had good cinematography, action scenes, and SFX. Or course, the story does feel incomplete by the end (until we get a part 2).
You're acting like they didn't already do this all of the time before....
Plus, if no one saw this movie (excluding me), then how did it get its buzz prior to award season and was able to get nominated for and won all 3 Oscars? Its Best Picture status will now give this movie even more attention.
I don't think a lot of people knew that Dune and Nightmare Alley are remakes either.

Why would Pixar make direct-to-video release movies? Also, the movie's budget is $175 million like most of their films over the past 5 years. It's not even on the same caliber as the DisneyToons Studios' Planes movies. which were meant to be cheap direct-to-video spinoffs to Cars. If Turning Red "is" supposed to be direct-to-Disney+ from the get-go, then I guess that has to be the most expensive direct-to-video/VOD movie they ever made...Turning Red is not even on the
Yeah, but the live action movies are more closely based on the Hanna-Barbera TV show adaptation rather than on the original comics.

That's an interesting theory, except that Turning Red was originally meant to get a theatrical release too. Disney, for some reason, decided to dump another Pixar movie onto Disney+ right after they promised they would do a theatrical release for it this time. Maybe it's because they saw how well Encanto did on Disney+? This kind of makes me wonder how they might handle Lightyear next. The Omicron variant isn't as active anymore. So I think they might do a theatrical release for Lightyear (hopefully, when there isn't another random variant around).
