What does your profile name mean?

Some are obvious, some are not.

If you had to choose another what would it be ?

Mine is boring. It's a nickname from back in the day.

If I had to pick another one it would be
HankMarducas.

What does it all mean?

reply

I've always considered yours to be puzzling, intriguing.

reply

Nothing intriguing about me.
Maybe I should have stayed a mystery.

I always wondered about yours.

reply

Good ! I enjoy being cryptic at times.

reply

LOL.

db20db and Austin Powers-
International men of mystery.

reply

No, I've never been able to get into that character.

reply

James Bond ?

reply

" Nothing intriguing " about you but "maybe" you " should have stayed a mystery ? " Do you have any idea of how contradictory that comes across ?

reply

It's a Tuesday and its pouring rain.
What are you gonna do ?

reply

Ok, now this is cryptic to me. I'm just gonna keep on keeping on until bedtime.

reply

Fair enough.

I thought maybe I gained back my puzzling and intriguing rep.
Maybe that's not the case.

reply

Uh, okay....so is this a Mexican standoff ?

reply

Not exactly purposely.

This is more of me having way too much time on my hands.
You were warned about my sense of humor.

reply

Same here and I'm toying with you as well.

reply

That's what I'm talking about.

This is why I like you.
This is why we get along.

We are mostly are very similar, mostly.

reply

Yes, I mentioned rapport recently on another thread. I enjoy discussing movies with you...and horsing around as well, lol.

reply

I as well.

Hopefully it will continue.

reply

Croft -Lara Croft
Alice - resident evil franchise ( milla jovovich ),two beatiful women with strong character that they never give up no matter the odds.πŸ˜‰

The extraordinary is in what we do,not who we are.

reply

Somehow I saw this coming. :)

reply

It means I'm a box of hair, or, I'm really dumb. Or, I listened to a lot of Cornbugs.

reply

Sad, doubt it or
You dropped a Cornbugs reference and are a genius.
Haven't thought about them in years.
Nice.

reply

Hmmm... I'm going to leave this one alone!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

reply

My nickname, former and current cats' names.

reply

Nice.
I Thought maybe CapnSkip was something like CapnCrunch. :)

reply

So does it mean "Go Dewey"?

reply

Basically.
From back in my baseball days.

reply

Aha!!

😎

reply

Where the hell were you a year ago?

reply

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

😎

reply

Even hownos was only 6 months late.
And that's saying something!

reply

Well as long as his girlfriend isn't late.

HI-OOOOH!!

😎

reply

That's exactly what his wife said.!

Ba Dum TSS!

reply

😎

reply

we are way passed the late stage.lol

reply

Well okay then.

😎

reply

I would have never been able to separate his name out like that. For some reason my mind goes to the first actual word that can be spelled out by the entire word and that was "God". I would then be looking at the "Ewey" part.

reply

Same here. I did that for the longest time until I really looked at it one day and was like ok, maybe it's go Dewey cuz god ewey made absolutely no sense at all lol.

reply

It took me a while too, because I kept seeing god-ewey! I was also thinking it sounded like an old Norse or Aruthurian name you would pronounce "goh-daway".

"And yea, the brothers Godwin and Godewey rode through the forest to the King."

Only recently I realized oh...."Go Dewey!" [laugh]

reply

LOL.

You give me way to much credit.
I definitely like your version much better.

Can I change my answer ?

reply

Verily, your name now may now be Godewey, brother of Godwin, emissary to King Arthur. [laugh]

reply

LOL.

As long as I can be part of the Knights who say Ni
I will never ask for anything ever again.

reply

Hah, good one -- I forgot about the Knights who say Ni! Off with my head!

reply

Maybe not as good as the
machine that goes Ping !

reply

It took me a while too, because I kept seeing god-ewey! I was also thinking it sounded like an old Norse or Aruthurian name you would pronounce "goh-daway".

That's exactly what I thought and how I read it [laugh]

My name doesn't have any particular meaning, except I like cats and books. But it could just as easily have been dogwatermelon, or squirrelmovies, or practically anything.

reply

Cat you are absolutely priceless.
Who knew, I could have been a Norse legend.

I haven't seen you in awhile.
You were missed.

reply

I thought it looked familiar! That's probably what I was thinking of, lol. I really need to get around to reading the original King Arthur; I've always wanted to.

reply

Haha.

Maybe it should be god ewey because it makes no sense.
People tell me I make no sense all the time.

reply

God ewey makes me think of a reaction to something icky -- "Um, sorry, my monitor lizard just pooped all over your rug... "
"God! Eweeeey!!!!"

reply

Um, that's my name.
What's up with that ?

I love how you not only picked a lizard but a monitor lizard and
it pooped all over "your" rug.
Like you took it with you to a dinner party.

You guys are great.

reply

But if course -- doesn't everyone take their monitor lizard to dinner parties? :)

reply

I might start now that I have something to say.

Um, sorry, my monitor lizard just pooped all over your rug

reply

Damn, you beat me to it LOL!! I was gonna say God?? EEEEWEY!! Like the notion that God was yucky lol.

reply

That's the one that happens at the atheist's dinner party! [laugh]

reply

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

reply

Sense you make Go Dewey!!!!
(My sad attempt at Yoda LOL)

reply

As soon I read the first three words
I went back and read it as Yoda.

Mission successful.

reply

Mine is my first name, my nickname (named after my drink of choice), and my location.

And I'm good with this one. I've had one IMDb name and this is it.

reply

Somehow I knew rum would be involved in this.

reply

I'm just so transparent!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

reply

Seven Seven

reply

Like a window.

reply

Mine is a shortened version of Somewhat Slightly Dazed.I had various versions of it on IMDb.

It is a favourite David Bowie track.

reply

Spy, Spy, pretty girl
you see me through your window

I also love that song.
Nice.

reply

I'm a phallus in pigtails and there's blood on my nose.

reply

I remember listening to that song over and over as kid.
Trying to figure out what the heck he was talking about
with some of his lyrics.

Good memories.

reply

Ha! I did too,I used to love it when an LP came with the lyrics in the sleeve. Then I'd try to decipher the meaning. It was either that or tape a song from the radio, listen, rewind until I'd got all the lyrics (or something like them!)
I later heard that Bowie used to cut up strips of paper with words on and randomly select them for some of his songs,I was a bit gutted!

reply

I did the exact same thing. I would sit by the radio and record songs.
Then of course stop it when the song was over and just wait until the
next one. Hoping it was one I liked. If it wasn't and I started to record
I would quickly have to rewind and play until I got the end of the previous
song. The things we did...

Nooooo. I will never believe he did that.
That can't be true. I am crushed.
Next you'll tell me that Pink Floyd isn't a real person.

reply

Haha! I used to get really annoyed with the DJ if they talked over the end of the song, not sure if you're in the UK but Peter Powell was the worst.I have kept some of those old tapes, some of them are like 40 Years old and only interesting to meπŸ˜•πŸ˜•

Listening to Radio Caroline under the covers on my transistor with one ear plug was another thing.

Pink Floyd isn't but Manfred Mann is...so there is that.

reply

I'm from across the pond. We had our share of DJ's who
did the same thing. Very annoying.
I wish I would have kept my tapes. I used to record TV shows too.

I didn't know that about Manfred Mann.
Then I looked it up. That was almost painfully obvious.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of my favorite band name stories.
He actually just died not to long ago.

reply

I think my husband,he's a Lynyrd fan, has told me this, was it Leonard Skinner a teacher or something?

I was just watching an old documentary about Steely Dan and they were talking about Aja and how it was an amalgamation of three songs they were playing around with and that they just hit it lucky! I'm like but...but..

reply

Yes, he was gym teacher that actually suspended a couple
of the band members.

Haha.

You have too many of these stories. You're going to
destroy my image of these artists.
I will forever believe that everything they did is because
they were relaying the deep dark mysteries of life.

reply

Ha ha! Sorry.

Forget I said anything.I think the meaning is in the eye of the beholder anyway!

reply

Aw! I remember this conversation!
Weirdly and coincidentally I was listening to Radio Caroline this morning! Still transmitting from a boat.
So nice to see Leia, April, Prelude before....😡
Arvin before...😡😫😭
Had to bump it for old times sake.

reply

It was fun getting to know everybody.

Cookie and some character named Houdini too!

reply

Houdini and Reality in the same threadπŸ˜‚

reply

You're right.
Maybe J8 can make it the triple play!

reply

Damn am I ever glad to see one of your fun threads resurrected to the top , godewey ! Too much troll activity been going on.

reply

Thanks.

I agree. seems like maybe this is the second invasion.

reply

Ok, in order to keep it going, I'll finally answer the question in your thread topic.

When I became excited about joining the site, I was simultaneously watching a History Channel special about D.B. Cooper so I hastily conjured a username based on that.

Sigh, my mystique just vanished but his continues .....

reply

Finally... thank you.

You're mystique just vanished but at least you
can be happy that I can finally get some sleep tonight.
I won't have to stay up wondering what your name meant.

reply

It's still mysterious.Who is D.B Cooper?

No don't tell me...let it remain forever a mystery.
