Great Movies w/ Odd Relationships

Odd according to the mores...

"Harold and Maude" would be a great example. It's a great movie, and people still get fussy about it. I just saw "Ali: Fear Eats the Soul" and would also put it in the same category.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Midnight Run starring Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin. What an unlikely pair!
i don't know if people think it's a great movie. I loved it. It made me laugh. Personally, I think it's under rated.

reply

I loved it too, I watched many times as a kid. I haven't seen it in years though.

reply

Yes, this was a great flick.

reply

How about A Perfect World. Kevin Costner and the kid. Great movie.

reply

The Defiant Ones is the most obvious choice for me.

reply

Oh, that was great! Good choice!

Robert DeNiro and Ben stiller, odd pair, stupid movie, a waist of a great actor (RD)

George and Lennie in Of Mice and Men.

reply

great one! -- i loved the original with burger meredith.

If I recall correctly MortSahlFan, the 1992 remake wasn't half bad either, and I'm generally not a fan of remakes. Though the casting of John Malkovich as Lennie seemed a bit off (Lon Chaney Jr fit the physical size description of the Lennie character much better).

reply

Lethal Weapon 1; at least until they grew on each other.

The Professional.

Leon and Matilda. The hit man takes in the young girl and has an odd relationship with her. He's like a father but there seems to be more going on than that.
