Trump suggests cuts to Social Security

"First of all, there is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting"
This is a complete turnabout from last year's position:
“Under no circumstances should Republicans vote to cut a single penny from Medicare or Social Security.”

Bottom line, in the remote chance he is elected President, he's got to pay somehow for more tax cuts for the rich.

reply

Well, it gives Biden a free campaign ad.

reply

But I wonder if Fox will air them?

reply

Everything in government is bloated to the T, including Social Security. To think there's no way to reduce the SS expenditure without reducing benefits to citizens is a show of very low intelligence.

But have at it guys, I won't interrupt your TDS circlejerk 😊

While I don't want SS cut the government needs to make cuts to somethings in order to reduce the masdive debt it has. If it doesn't soon do that, we'll be in a state worse than The Great Depression. All money will become useless and all stores, restaurants, farms hotels, motels, and gas stations will close down. It'll be like going back to how we were at the start of the world. Personally, I'd cut NASA and Science related things. I'd also cut all politician's benefits though that would never happen.

reply

"Personally, I'd cut NASA"...

...and the IRS.

reply

"A funding and staffing surge at the Internal Revenue Service could lead to as much as $850 billion in new revenue over the next decade.
IRS Is Hiring Thousands Of New Workers To Ramp Up Focus On Millionaires And Large Corporations

The IRS is hiring 3,700 new employees nationwide in more than 250 locations. The hiring is focused on higher-graded revenue agents. It's a second wave of hiring thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act."

Sounds good to me!

reply

87,000.

Unlike you, I've paid thousands into Social Security because I work. I want my money returned.

reply

Social Security doesn't work that way.

Whatever you are paying now, gets given to old people now. Unless there is an adequate replacement population in the future(which there will not be)...your payments will be based on the tax revenue generated when you are eligible.

The government doesn't give a fuck how much you contributed nor how long you did. If the system goes under before you are eligible to receive benefits...you're fucked, Buddy.

Bulls**t! I don't buy into government hot air like you do. My SS statement clearly states how much I'll receive based on how much and long I put into the program. I don't need your corrupt mental patient Trump ruining the program.

Immigrants = work force and taxpayers

It's obvious you're on welfare and food stamps and I'm supporting you which explains why you don't care about either program.

reply

It's quite fascinating to see you claim that you "don't buy into government hot air" like B1cKsurN supposedly does and then see you tell him what your "SS statement clearly states" as if that's not government hot air. The Social Security Administration's website explicitly says "We use your taxes to pay people who are getting benefits right now." The Social Security benefits you would get in retirement would come from the Social Security taxes paid by others in the future. B1cKsurN's point is that Social Security might not have enough money by the time you retire to pay all that it owes you. It's a simple mathematical matter.

reply

That's because he is the Dunning Kruger effect personified.

The saddest part about it is that the simplest cure for the affliction is reading.

You're a complete fucking moron.

The system we have is not sustainable by importing the 3rd world. Eventually you will run out of intelligent people to point where no one will have:

Power
Running water
Clean water
The ability to flush your shit away
Competent Civil services

And so many more things you take for granted will cease to exist without properly replacing the population through reproduction and education.

LOL, I wish I could get food stamps....then I'd have an extra $500 a week like the actual welfare sponges.

You shouldn't always rely on just social security, you should have proper investments like CD's to fall back on

reply

Bare minimum investments:

6 Months of expenses in cash
3-6+ Months of expenses in precious metals
401k/403b with at least 4-5% investment or IRA Account

After that, then go for the Stock Market, Crypto, commodities, Real Estate, etc.

I'm still not sold on crypto....an EMP or government ban ends that scenario real fast. In fact I think something big is coming within the private sector due to all this (essentially) laborless wealth generation. Think 87,000 armed IRS agents.

I have a CD.. Very safe.. I wish I had the patience to try my hand at the stock market, but then, I'm always reminded of the episode of "King of Queens" when Doug Heffernan invested his Christmas Bonus in the stock market and the entire episode saw Doug have his up's and down's and it was funny, but it's true.. You have to have nerves of steel to be able to handle the stock market and be able to handle losing $$$$$ and not wig out over it

reply

He isn't directly talking about that but regardless, look at the pie chart for government spending. Healthcare, Social Security and Defense take up 75% of total spending. Look at the debt that is now rolling over to higher interest rates and the interest payments are just about equal to the defense budget. Paying the interest on the debt is going to force spending cuts from somewhere no matter who is president and trimming the fifty or so departments that aren't health/social/defense will not amount to shit. There is no way to avoid cutting the big three and taxing the rich isn't going to cut it either.

reply

Trump added to the national debt with his tax cut for the super rich.

Workers pay into Social Security and Medicare from their paychecks. We want our money returned. Vote Biden!

reply

Exactly. Only idiots would assume that 100% of incoming revenue is 100% paid out to eligible receivers.

It doesn't work that way. People need to get paid, the system requires daily/weekly/monthly/yearly maintenance. All that shit costs money...and that's the area where Trump is taking about.

Not reducing payouts to people. That's political suicide.

Does he?
With his army of new Trailer Park friends maybe he should be licking their asses .
Subsidized Nascar tickets or something ....

reply

Wont matter in the least to the MAGA crowd. If stating his desire to completely toss the constitution and be a dictator doesn't bother them, something trivial like entitlement cuts certainly wont.

reply

As with most issues, Trump comes down on both sides so that at some future point he and his fans can say he was right.
