Too soon

Normally you make movies about athletes after they pass away. At the very least, after they retire.

This is pure silliness.

reply

That's why they make it as a movie about Richard Williams, instead of Venus and Serena directly.

reply

Uh, seriously? White athletes get films made about them all the damn time, whether they're retired or not. But you want to complain about a film about black athletes? Which makes no damn sense, of course. Just admit you don't want to see a film about two black women who are considered the the best top tier athletes in their chosen sport (and who have been in the game nearly 20 years.) Nobody is making you go see it. The fact that you call this film you haven't even seen "pure silliness" is just plain fkcg silliness on your part.

reply

I'm looking forward to seeing all the roid use.

reply

You sound like a racist.

reply

Oh, here we go. "White" word showed up. I assume you are white woke woman with White Savior complex since you cant see Serena for the person she is and you only see her skin color, like all racist wokes do. ))) And you only pretend to support Serena because she is black to show what a generous white savior you are )))

Why are white wokes so racist? This is beyound ridiculous.

Will Smith may be winning an Oscar posthumously, at the rate that Jada is ripping him to shreds

reply

So if we look at other films made about athletes that are still living, we can expect to see the same complaint from you?

Brian's Song
Friday Night Lights
Rudy
Miracle
Remember the Titans
Ali
Moneyball
Rush
Heart Like a Wheel
The Rookie

What kind of whine did you post about these films?

reply

To be fair the OP did say: "Or at least after they retire."

Were most (or any) of those people still participating in their sport when the movie was made?

P.S. I hesitate to even really call Moneyball a sports movie, at least not in the sense that the rest of your entries are. It's more like a stock market movie wrapped in a baseball uniform.

reply

Shut up, cracker

reply

Ritz or Saltine?

reply

To be fair, what the OP said was making no sense at all.

reply

Actually it made perfect sense unless you’re an idiot who can’t read. Ding ding we have a loser!

This film needn’t be made when Serena is still near the top of her game.

Silliness.

reply

Seeing as there are plenty of films made about athletes who are still alive, you are continuing to make no sense at all.

reply

I believe the point is this: If you're going to do a retrospective on an athlete, at least let them finish their career first so that we can have a full awareness of, and proper perspective on, both their accomplishments and their failures.

reply

Uh huh.

Except this film is NOT a "retrospective on an athlete." It's an examination of how two transcendent talents began their careers, and how their family life (in particular, Richard) influenced that process.

Not complicated. The complaint is absurd, period.

reply

Brian's song was about a guy who died from cancer.

reply

Did you watch Brian's song? It was about the freindship of two football players, one of whom died of cancer and the other who went on to relative fame.

reply

I assume they finally had to make it since Serena just wont retire despite being 40 )))

And Will Smith wants that Oscar. That movie was never about Serena or Venus anyway. This movie exist only for one purpose - to bring Will Smith awards nominations.

reply

Didn’t he get one for playing a retard yet? That’s the standard playbook for getting an Oscar.

The academy loves them handicap Oscar’s.

reply

Did you look at the link?

reply

He isn't that good of an actor. If he wins it will be a gift from the academy.
