Color blind casting is the future get over it

So funny to see all the racists crying about this show because it casts black people. Face it, the future of movies and theatre is cool blind casting. It is the perfect way to achieve diversity and representation without any form of discrimination and it is a great thing that the industry is moving in this direction. The days of whites as the default are over.

Isn't this funny how people who advocate "colorblind casting" are the first to cry about "whitewashing"?

Now that was funny.

If only it were colour blind casting.

It's black casting.

Color blind casting isn't even a new thing in historical fiction. Strange how In 1993 nobody cared about Denzel Washington being cast in Much Ado About Nothing. But again the white supremacist degenerates don't even care about precedent or "historical accuracy". These are the same white supremacist suspects on the Little Mermaid board throwing tantrums about a black actress being cast to play fantasy based creature in a fictional fantasy story for children.

As always White to black is fine no matter the context. If charcater is fictional or real historical person. Someone complains and you call them a white supremacist. Nice.

But and this will absolutely happen a black character is played by a white actor and you would be the first to scream some racial argument.

Real white historical figures played by black actors is fine by your logic and so then the next reboot of Malcom X i want played by Brad Pitt, colour blind casting remember.

The reason people complain constantly is because the rules only work one way. White to black is fine, black to white is racist.

That's called hypocrisy.

You want colour blind casting then it has to be allowed across the board. Any colour, any gender can play any part. You cannot pick and choose what is acceptable and what isn't.

Did I forget to mention how much white supremacist suspects love transparent straw man arguments?

reply

No you didn't. But you did forget to mention that you are an obvious sock puppet troll.

The irony of shameless white supremacist hypocrisy is constantly lost on them as well.

I agree. As an indie developer of computer fantasy role playing adventure games in the vein of Dungeons & Dragons and Tolkien, I finally introduced people of colour, not just as secondary characters, but they make up a huge portion of the main characters with one of the main leads being Black.

I think doing this added a certain richness to the game world and helped me be more creative in terms of world building.

Having more POCs in entertainment will revitalize the genres of fantasy and period pieces that are usually white from a creative standpoint, as well as attracting a broader audience. Our society is becoming more diverse as well and so it makes sense that characters and actors of colour be featured prominently.

That's fine and good for a make-believe world. If a show or movie or game is set in a real time and place, it should reflect the reality of that time and place.

reply

I disagree, I think it's great that historical films and TV series now have more people of color. It provides more acting opportunities and people will get used to it and embrace it.

I actually watched a couple of episodes and the casting reminded me of a school play. Also, I started wondering since it’s random race casting would, for instance, two black characters have a a white child?
