This one should've been a straight-to-dvd movie. Sure it was alright, but not cinema material. The big death was sad, but this movie had so much more potential. Dunkirk and Hacksaw Ridge were both better than this one. Now I know why this movie was pushed back and not shown on Christmas Day.

This movie was not only a great war movie but also had intelligent emotional beats. Finely crafted. I love a good war flick and I often don't hold them accountable in many ways. This movie doesn't need one closed eye.
I'd give both Dunkirk and Hacksaw Ridge A grades. Hacksaw an A+, Dunkirk an A, so 1917 may be like extra credit 105% A++.
shareI didn't like that stupid Dunkirk movie because they had all the soldiers standing in lines on the beach, ready to board boats that weren't even there! It looked stupid, didn't happen, and would've been easy pickings for German pilots had they decided to mow them all down in lines.
I hope you realize Dunkirk is a true story. Dunkirk (Operation Dynamo) actually happened at Dunkirk 1940.

I'm with you, Foebane. Dunkirk sucked. You know that it was the largest aerial battle in WWII going on above them? You sure wouldn't know it from the movie. It had well produced moments but was a mess of a movie.
