The Mandalorian coming to the big screen

https://www.starwars.com/news/the-mandalorian-and-grogu

The Mandalorian and Grogu are embarking on a new adventure — to movie theaters.

Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production in 2024.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

"Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen," added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will lead Lucasfilm's ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing Ahsoka Season 2, among those in the works.

Gonna be honest, After Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka & Mando season 3, I've just lost interest in whatever this "new universe" they're building.

I mean the hype this show used to carry is just gone for me personally.

reply

I think its gone for most, and baby yoda is so 2019

At what point does the STAR WARS Name implode unto itself because of Disney shoving it down everyone's throat and if this isn't bad enough, Kathleeen Kennedy wants to make an all female STAR WARS??

reply

I honestly think Star Wars should just "go the fuck away" for a while.

Cause they killed it with oversaturation. Cause there was never this much Star Wars ou there.

Now it has lost that uniqueness. The "magic" it had. Now it's like every other brand out there.

This latest headline is funny:

"Reeling" over surprise announcement?

None of these announced movies have been made. All of them have been cancelled before getting made.

reply

Only one movie has been announced and cancelled.

reply

So, the "Rogue Squadron" one? Announced. Cancelled. The Rian Johnson TRILOGY of films? Announced. Cancelled.

All you Kathleen Kennedy acolytes need a life. Seriously.

reply

Rian Johnson has been invited to develop star wars movies, perhaps a trilogy, when he's free from other commitments like his own franchise. And that's still the case. No movies have been announced. Nothing has been cancelled.

Reporting that a filmmaker has signed on to develop a project or projects is not an announcement of a movie.

Lucasfilm did not even want to announce Rogue Squadron. They were forced to by Chapek who wanted something, anything announced.

Don't quote screenrant at me. They pick topics fans are hot about and tell them what they want to hear.

I can do anything I want to a random keyboard warrior.

How much screen time is Lizzo the Hutt getting? Probably a lot.

reply

The magic is more or less gone. How much longer can they prop Baby Yoda Grogu on this? He still can't even talk yet much less do lightsaber fights. They can only do so much Grogu comedy.

reply

Kathleen Kennedy is banking on a bunch of women and metrosexual men flocking to the theaters to see the cute baby Grogu.

Plus, she likely expects actual “Star Wars” fans to flock to the theaters like they always do no matter how poorly made the content is.

I think it might not work this time though…

reply

so no season 4?

reply

they should consider bringing gina carano back that might make things interesting.
