Season 4 will suck.

I have that feeling.
I love all 3 seasons but where can the show go from here without feeling repetitive? You can't have the same villain for 3 seasons!
They already went back to the well to extract the last drop of water left, d'you know what I mean?

reply

Surely there's loads that can be done yet.
Terry silver
Mike Barnes

More Okinawa stuff,More Ali stuff I don't think it would be repetitive yet as they've only just touched on it so far.

I hope It don't suck

reply

They wrapped up Ali's story. Her last scene was closure.

reply

Maybe

I'm just finishing up Season Three and it has already become repetitive. Gangs of kids from different dojos encounter each other somewhere, tough posturing ensues, every third time or so there's a giant karate fight. Johnny and Daniel or either one of them and Kreese encounter each other, tough posturing ensues, occasionally there's a giant karate fight. Johnny gets drunk and ends up in jail. Daniel is self-righteous and pompous and won't ever shut up about Mr. Miyagi this, Mr. Miyagi that, Mr. Miyagi was Jesus H. Christ on a f'ing cloud. Robby is mad at all the grownups. Hawk and Tory are still psycho. It goes on, and on, and on, but it goes nowhere.

Yet it's sufficiently entertaining and sometimes funny, so I suppose I'll watch it to the bitter end. Robby finally got a real boy haircut. I hope eventually Hawk is inspired to follow his example.

I agree with you.

How did Robbie get out of jail?? Did I miss that? I binged season 3 in a day, so maybe I missed that. He had a meeting with a probation officer and then he's just out of jail? How come there was no court room scene with Robbie? He basically almost killed Miguel. Robbie should still be in jail.

How will Mrs. Larusso deal with her house being destroyed? The last scene of season 3 didn't make sense in that way. There's no way Mrs. Larusso would let Daniel keep teaching them karate after that, lol.

reply

You don’t meet with a probation officer...unless you’re getting out of jail.....or in his case juvenile detention.

reply

Right, he is under 18. I guess the charges are not as severe. And I looked at another person's comment on here - he was in juvenile detention for 3 months (September through December).

reply

I might be wrong but I was under the impression that he was just being held and had not been bailed out. I dont think he has been tried and sentenced yet.

reply

I think he was. That's why he did community service to help reduce his sentence.

reply

There's always something new they can do.

Kreese teams up with Silver early on
Later on they bring out their secret weapon, Barnes (Kanan)

Larusso teams up with Lawrence early on
Later on they bring out their secret weapon, Pierce (Swank)

It's all fun and games until the Swank shows up.

reply

I could be wrong of course, but I have a hard time believing that Hilary Swank will come back for this unless it's just a small role in one episode like Shue.

After all, she's an Academy Award winner who is consistently busy with other projects where she's usually the lead. Especially considering that her Karate Kid film wasn't even that well received, I just have a feeling she wouldn't even be interested.

But like I said, I could be wrong.

reply

Yeah it was mostly a joke. Having Pierce come in and kick Barnes' ass sounds funny as hell.

reply

It's already repetitive. Johnny gives up . Johnny comes back. Bobbie goes from bad guy to good guy, to bad guy again. Big brawl at the end with little to no consequences. Kreese gets away with everything after sending his students out to commit various crimes. All the Cobra Kais should go to juvy after home invading the Larusso house and assaulting everyone.

reply

Well one thing that S4 has to give us is the big tournament. S3 gives you a head fake and makes you think that's coming in the finale but we never quite get there.

reply

I agree with others that the show has already become repetitive. This season felt like one big stall. Felt very much like a sophomore slump. Like they kind of told all the story they wanted to tell when they first cooked up the idea of this show, and now they're in that "now what?" stage. They simply didn't know what to do with half these characters. The kids especially. Everything with Daniel's soul searching quest and capping greater closure on the second film was just terrific. Easily the high point of the season. I felt them trying the same with Johnny and Ali was a sloppy bungled mess that didn't deliver. But at least it was fresh. The rest of the show was all rehash. All the kids angry and fighting each other. Good guys become bad guys. Bad guys become good guys. Everybody switches teams, rinse repeat. Total soap opera stuff. The lack of structure with the different dojos and different philosophies for how karate can be applied to life was noticeably missing. Not finding Kreese a compelling villain. But the feisty bromance with Johnny and Daniel is pretty hilarious. Show doesn't suck yet by any means, but it felt a little directionless in season 3. They spent the whole time just kind of setting things up for the final arc. It was very much a middle chapter. If they actually are planning a few more seasons like I read, I expect season 4 will be much the same. Just stalling till we finally get to the big tournament.
