Canon denial is very annoying

For example, many people say the Terminator movies after Terminator 2 aren't canon, even though they clearly are. It's fine if you don't like the movies, but trying to claim that they're not canon just because you don't like them is ridiculous.

If you're like that, I have a question for you: What would you do if, for example, an amazing Terminator movie was made? Would that one be canon? But then wouldn't that mean the previous ones would have to become canon? Otherwise the story wouldn't make sense.

That’s me. I like Terminator 1 & 2. Didn’t even bother watching the 3rd or the other lame attempts after that. Well, until now. I’m trying to make it through “Dark Fate” but here I am while it plays in the background. Without Cameron directing/writing it’s just not the same.

If an amazing Terminator movie came out I’m sure I’d enjoy it because most likely it would connect more with the 1st & 2nd movie. And I’d view it as a proper 3rd installment, if it was good. Never really gave a shit about what’s cannon or not in the same way I like Alien & Aliens but not any of the other sequels.
Or Halloween 1, 2, & 4 but not any of the others.

At this point, I think it's clear that only T1 is canon. Everything else is an AU from that lol

nope

" many people say "

is it up to them ?
If the story teller says "..and then this happened" - its canon

I hate T3-T6.

But they were made, they are part of the series, so they are canon.

Still, I hate them.

In fairness it's not so much us as the filmmakers who keep ignoring "cannon":
- Terminator Salvation kind of, sort of follows on from T3 but pretty much ignores it
- The Sarah Conner Chronicles wipes T3 out of the timeline and (IIRC) directly contradicts Terminator: Salvation which was in production concurrently
- Terminator: Genysis ignores T3, Salvation and TSCC and is a direct sequel to T1 and T2 only
- Terminator: Dark Fate ignores T3, Salvation, TSCC and Genysis and is a direct sequel to T1 and T2 only *again*

So it's not surprising people pick and chose what's "cannon" because the series has done the same.

For what it's worth I thought Dark Fate was easily the best of the series since T2, but it was simply too late.

There are more than 2 Terminator movies?

They can't be canon if I didn't see them. T1, T2, the prequel and this one are fine for me.
