So why was time looping at all?

Any ideas as to why time was looping at all?

I read there are Easter eggs which explain it. Did anyone catch that? Even after two viewings, I've got nothing.

I was hoping she'd go past the physics lab or something :-)

Could it be related to the power outage? That's my only guess.

a wizard did it!

we never find out why bill murray lives the same day over & over either.

i think this is one of those areas where, when you're dealing with a fantastical concept, attempting to give an explanation would probably just diminish the results.

i thought happy death day was a shockingly enjoyable film. funny, reasonably clever, never dawdled, didn't overstay its welcome, cute girls. for this kind of film, i don't think you could ask for much more.

Bill Murray gets hit in the head with a shovel. That's what causes it.

huh, i don't remember that at all. i just remember him going to bed the first day wanting to go home & waking up to sonny & cher. but i'm not doubting you. it's been a good length of time since i've watched it.

regardless, that's not an explanation in any real sense, which was kinda what i was trying to get at. i don't think you need some sort of word-salad star trek-style dylithium crystals are running low-style explanation. just accept the premise & go along with the ride. the ride in this case, i thought, was pretty fun.

It was always a talking point of how it happened and a quick shot of him being accidentally hit in the head with shovel is what a lot of people think causes the looping. There really is no logical way for someone to be living the same day over and over in a movie.

How do you know we all don't do that? You won't know until your turn comes.

Haven't I been on this post before?

I think it's because she followed Data's suggestion instead of Riker's.

It was a gypsy curse from an ex girlfriend

I've never seen a time loop movie (or tv show) that explained itself.

The IMDB trivia says the director has stated that there are Easter eggs (including one big one apparently) which explain why it's happening. So I was wondering if anybody caught it.

reply

If there were Easter eggs, I sure missed them.

reply

Maybe we missed the Easter Eggs because it was released in October?

reply

Probably Aliens.

reply

Because she was sent back to assassinate herself!

reply

Because Lori's card said there's no tomorrow.

reply

It is actually explained in the second one.
