am I the only one who thought both Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet were better than this?

But of course this one wins the Golden Globe.

I don't know, this movie just didn't do much for me.

I can assure you you’re not the only one who feels this way. (Take a look at the overrated thread on here for support.)

But I for sure thought it was the better and more unique animated feature film of 2018 (one of the best films of the year, period — and yes I loved Incredibles 2) and undoubtedly so did many others. Its win was deserving and I seriously doubt many were suprised by this considering all the amount of praise Spider-Verse has received. Golden Globe? Cool. Now get that well-deserved Oscar! (Credit to “Isle of Dogs”.)

So, yay for us fans who recognized how special this film is.

I thought Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse was fantastic. I would rank it as the 2nd best animated film, after Isle of Dogs. Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet were great too.

reply

Agreed. Isle of Dogs was also excellent and probably the better film.

it's a big old world and lots of people like lots of different things. there are people who get off on sticking toothbrushes up their urethra. so no matter how unusual your preference might be, it's safe to say there are probably tons of people who think just like you.

i haven't seen ralph or incredibles, so i have no opinion to give on them, but i thought spider-verse was absolutely sublime, astonishing to look at, visionary even, and a truly winning story...sweet, touching, human, & unexpectedly moving. it's my favourite film of the year.

reply

Oh, you should definitely see them, at least if you liked The Incredibles and Wreck-It Ralph. You are missing out.

reply

All were good (actually I have not seen Ralph, so I'm just going on what I've heard from those who did) so I guess in this case it's a matter of personal preference. To me, this was better than Incredibles 2 or Isle of Dogs.

reply

I saw all three in theaters and spidey verse was my favorite of the three, though they were all good. Into The Spiderverse moved me more emotionally and just felt relatable and grabbed me in. I thought it was very well written. Ralph Breaks The Internet is a close second, that was amazingly done as well. Incredible 2 was good but I didn’t love it, I still prefer the first one.

reply

Also I feel kinda dumb but I’ve never even heard of isle of dogs...

Sequel's never win

I liked Incredibles 2 and Wreck it Ralph 2 but I loved Spider Verse and think it might be one of my 4 favorite Spider-Man films. That would be Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, and Spider-Verse.

reply

I guess I just don't care that much for Spider-Man to begin with.

reply

LOL, I'm sure that didn't bias your opinion at all.
