No attempt to provide medical assistance to Tony

They just took at him instead of trying to render him medical assistance. Strange certainly could have helped Tony.

Maybe it was a lost cause but they didn't even try.

Now all a Thanos sympathisers need is the time machine to undo it all though.

reply

Impossible with that thing on his chest to give him cpr.

reply

I don't think he died from a heart attack?

reply

You don't have to have a heart attack to need cpr. A person struck by lightning or shocked with the heart stopped would get cpr to restart the heart.Didn.t you see Black Heart Down with the guy shot and dead the medic goes to giving cpr?

reply

No heart attack is the ONLY medical emergency cpr can rectify. This is obviously what I meant from my post.

reply

Um, Triplea,
You do NOT use CPR to treat a heart attack. CPR is for cardiac arrest; that is the heart has stopped beating or the patient is no longer breathing. Generally, during a heart attack the heart is still beating. If the heart is beating you do not give CPR. It is intended to keep blood and oxygen moving and can, possibly, restart the heart.

reply

If Stark did survive, it could plausibly be one of the 14 mil failures.

As Thanos said, the stones would be a temptation.

Starks strong personality and being a perennial "fixer" would be a almost irresistible temptation to use the glove again for another purpose.

Stark represents human ingenuity. If he did survive, it would mean that humans have figured out how to handle absolute power in the universe.

That could lead to a more horrible ending than Thanos.

reply

I don't think so, Tony would be the king of the universe and peace would reign for eternity.

reply

Nobody would dare throw a moon at him, that's for sure.

reply

I don't think they covered Infinity Stone-related emergencies at Strange's medical school.

reply

They didn't have to because it's a simple medical emergency that he could have fixed with basic first aid care.

They saved the Hulk with an arm sling.

reply

Nah, the whole thing zapped your life force.

There really wasn't anything they could have done.

Even if they gave him CPR what would they do about the burns? I'm pretty sure his brain probably smelted from the power overload, and his insides liquefied.

The Hulk was permanently disfigured from the reverse snap and just putting the glove on zapped a lot of power out of the wielder.

Nothing they could have done would have worked.

reply

They could have uploaded his brain into one of his systems, that was proven possible in previous films.

reply

The Avengers headquarters was demolished, so they would have to fly him to one of his other bases (since I'm pretty sure Doctor Strange wasn't actually aware of where those places were and couldn't just teleport there).

And that's assuming that the stones didn't degenerate Tony's body to the point of mush by the time they got there. The process was fairly rapid, and even though all Tony did was erase Thanos' army, it was still enough to completely burn his entire body to a crisp.

reply

They didn't even try dude. It's as if they wanted him dead.

reply

But then they'd have to put up with his mouthy craziness, without getting any benefit from his superpowers.

I can see why they didn't.

reply

He didn't have any superpowers at all...... Super intelligence would be the only thing, which is preserved if he is uploaded. In fact a virtual Tony in a suit would be significantly more powerful than a mortal Tony in a suit.

reply

But he'd be just as annoying, probably more so because he'd hate being disembodied.

reply

They already know how to make synthetic bodies like vision, balls and all.

reply

Yeah, but t don't think they could make one during the one minute between the triumph over Thanos, and the end of Stark's death scene.

And refresh my memory, but when did they transfer a human intelligence into a machine?

reply

The Zola Hydra dude was shown transferred into a computer system in the winter soldier.

Looked like old tech too so today's technology should be able to do it easy, especially Stark tech.

reply

Ah, but we don't know that SHIELD or the Avengers ever took over the Hydra tech, studied it, or considered it ethical! Or useful, since they weren't that big on ethics! We also don't know how good that program was, if it really replicated knowledge and personality, or if it just saved some of the person's knowledge and produced statements that sounded like that person.

And really, from a medical perspective there was really no way to save Stark from the sort of molecular uncoupling the Infinity Stones inflict on the unworthy, even if Strange had magicked them to the world's best trauma center. We also don't know if it was possible to download a person's mind to a computer, or if anyone who was downloaded liked life as a disembodied computer program, and even if it was... what are the odds it was possible to download a person's entire mind into a modern computer while they were, you know, DYING? Dying in a few seconds?

reply

Tony himself had created multiple independent AI - the tech already exists.

The issue is not that they tried and failed, it's that they didn't try at all.

What would be the harm in magicing off to the best medical facility and at least trying?

I'm assuming his daughter will turn evil due to them not even trying to save her father, the man who saved the universe.

reply

The existence of AI created by Tony is not the same as dowloading a human consciousness into AI. I'm sure that Tony could have created an AI that had some of his knowledge and could be made to sound like him, but that wouldn't mean that he himself would continue in the AI.

As for trying to save him, some people can't be saved, and most adults know that. Tony was like someone who'd fallen off a 100 story skyscraper, damaged all the way through and with zero hope of survival.. You can shove such a person in an ambulance and make a run for a hospital, knowing damn well it's futile, or you can hold their hand for the last fe seconds and respectfully listen to the goodbye, which is what his friends did.

You must be pretty young, if you don't know that.

reply

People literally survive such falls, even from aeroplanes with failed parachutes ... But they only survive with medical assistance.

In fact it is A CRIME to not render medical assistance in an emergency in most countries.

You must be an idiot if you don't know that.

reply

It's perfectly legal to fail to render certain kinds of medical assistance in some situations, such as when a patient stops breathing and they are wearing a DNR medical alert bracelet, or they're in the hospital and their heart stops and they are DNR/NO CODE. There is hospice care, when patients or their decision makers decide that further medical treatment is futile or will do more harm than good, and in some circumstances, doctors can withdraw care against a patient's or family's wishes, if it's futile and will just prolong suffering.

And in the event of a "mass casualty" event, such as a battle to save the Earth from alien invaders, first responders have a protocol in which they concentrate their efforts on those who can be saved. Those who are already dead or who will obviously die before they can get to a hospital will be left to die, and that is right, necessary, and legal, because that's the way you save the most injured people. And Tony was one of the ones would obviously die before he'd get to a hospital, so they did the right thing by getting his wife and letting him say goodbye.

Although come to think of it, Strange did NOT do the right thing - he should have hauled out of there and used his powers to magick all the injured to every trauma center in the world. He couldn't operate any more, but could still transport the injured like a boss.

reply

there is nothing they could do

reply

So best to do nothing then.

reply

Doctor Strange could have used the Time Stone to rewind Tony's body to before he died.

reply

Exactly, localised to Tony only.

reply

Apparently, Infinity Stone-based "events" can't be reversed.

reply

They reversed the Thanos snap.

reply

Not exactly. They simply brought back everyone who got dusted.

reply

He didn't have the right insurance
