Here's hoping that Endgame dethrones Avatar, just to spite James Cameron

I know that the title of this post sounds petty but then so are the many subtle and direct insults that Cameron has heaped on Marvel and other comic book movies.

It would be a bit of cosmic justice if Avengers: Endgame ended up making more (adjusted for inflation) than Avatar.

Here's hoping. That would be extra icing on the cake!

reply

I didn't know he insulted the movies.

Avatar was a bad movie in so many ways so that would be great.

reply

James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is...

JAMES CAMERON

Avatar was the modern start of 3D which died out quick but, it was the start. 3D cost double or in some places more, than the average ticket. That is the only reason it made so much money.

The movie was not great and without 3D they would be lucky to get past the third. Next one should make enough for a sequel. But the third will bomb.

reply

But they greenlighted 7 sequels already!

reply

Remember Justice League 2, The Flash film that came out in 2018, The Cyborg film? Me neither.

reply

I don't even remember the first Justice League film!

reply

Not going to happen , Cameron will be probably 100 or dead by then

reply

He's gone to the deepest of the sea to attain immortality.

"3D cost double or in some places more, than the average ticket."

3D is NOT that big of a hike. Maybe you mean a 3D movie in L.A. can be double the average, because a non 3D ticket in L.A. can be double the average.

There are cheaper tickets than both the 3D and non 3D prices in L.A. also, which is why I put "can be."

Same

I personally think superhero-mania has gotten out of hand myself, but Cameron should be the last person to talk. He basically paved the way for this era of filmmaking with his shallow, CGI-filled, "spectacle" shitty films, especially Avatar

He really proved that having a shit story and paper thin characters was ok and could lead to insane financial success

I can't wait to not see any of his unwelcome Avatar sequels

reply

Lol unwelcome, yes master you rule all cinema and solely decide what is worthy.

reply

I'm glad you understand your place, peon

reply

I'm not Peon, I'm Piss-Ant!

reply

It would be nice because I'm much more of an MCU fan than a Cameron fan but I just don't see it happening. Avatar's box office had to do with its long run in theaters with people going to see it over and over again. Endgame's early success is primarily due to everyone realizing (from their experience with IW) there will be spoilers and they absolutely need to see this early. People can only stay off of social media for so long.

How fragile are your feelings if you hope a filmmaker fails because he doesn’t like the same Disney franchise that you do?

If “Avengers: Endgame” makes more money than “Avatar”, it’s because Endgame is the culmination of a 20+ film franchise.

“Avatar” was one film.

Has nothing to do with my feelings. It's about the juvenile comments Cameron has made about Marvel movies, the Wonder Woman and Aquaman movies. I've supplied the links if you'd like to reference these remarks. They're pretty asinine.
