Well it was fun while it lasted.

After Robert Downey Jr, Chris Even and Chris Hemsworth leave its pretty much the end. These were the three characters were the core of this franchise. Captain Marvel might be doing well. But the character is new to a lot of people. But once people realize that Carol Danvers is a lame lifeless soulless knock off of Superman without any personality. I think the jig will be up. We will get another Guardians of the Galaxy only to be replace by a 90 year old Sylvester Stallone. Then all you have is Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel. Sorry but this trio is not as good as Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. Sure there bring in X-Men and Fantastic Four when thing get really bad. But really who wants see a Wolverine that not played by Hugh Jackman. Eventually this whole thing is going run out of steam. And i think this movie going be the first stop on its slow decline.

I agree. Nothing lasts forever and to be honest I have been tiring of comic movies for awhile now....

reply

Indeed. 'Endgame' in more ways than one. I liked Doctor Strange and even Black Panther but if Larson is the new face of the MCU... blech.

I think I'm becoming a DC fan. Wonder Woman and Aquaman were both better than any non-Avengers MCU film from the same timespan. Okay, commence flaming. :)

I definitely understand. I was just talking to my fiancé the other day about how a handful of people would probably drop off after Endgame. The way I see it though, Marvel has sold me on even D-list characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy so even heroes that aren't bigger names, I'm excited to see what Marvel does with them.

On the note of the X-Men, I don't mind that Wolverine will no longer be Hugh Jackman. He had a complete story arc that rounded out his character in the best way possible. Recasting isn't always a bad thing. Though I don't think Wolverine should even be in the first MCU X-Men film. He's had his time in the spotlight and I think it's time for other X-Men to shine. Not only that, but the older X-Men films didn't age well at all.

Lastly, I'm not tired of superhero films quite yet because they can explore a variety of different genres. Spider-Man Homecoming was largely a coming of age film. The Guardians of the Galaxy is a space opera. Captain America the Winter Soldier was a spy/espionage film and so on. That being said, superhero isn't actually a genre.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I disagree that superhero isn't actually a genre. In my humble opinion, it is a sub-genre of science fiction\fantasy story telling

Has to end anyway.

It’s getting long in the tooth.

Enjoyable, yes.

But let’s be honest here...nobody wants to see all these characters recast.

And BADLY.

Did anyone really give a KRAP about X-Men: Apocalypse?

Me neither.

Shoulda ended with LOGAN.

But NoooOooooooOOoo....

reply

Yes, it's sad we'll be losing so many great characters, but in the end I'll keep watching the MCU.

reply

Yea the only one who had name recognition when they started was Robert and Edward and Hopkins and Jackson and Tommy Lee and Elba and Bridges and Norton and Hugo Weaving.

Who really knew Hemsworth or Evans before they were mcu stars.

The MCU has made actors, stars, Evans, Hemsworth, Hiddleston, Pratt, Johansson, etcetera. Even B or C list actors have been bumped up. and they keep bringing in new stars and legends. Why do you think so many actors want to be in a Marvel movie. Marvel gets upcoming actors and legend actors.

Post Script; Marvel has been running big actors since they started basically. Its been going fornten years now.

reply

I know. We staved off the "yawn I'm tired of the MCU" threads for as long as possible.

reply

I don't understand why some people think that the MCU is dead without Iron Man , Cap and Thor , sure they are iconic characters and the 3 actors were great in their roles but there are a lot of characters we haven't seen yet in the MCU

Heroes like :

Fantastic Four
X- Men
Silver Surfer
She-Hulk
Ghost Rider
Namor
Spider-Woman
Blade
Moonknight
Sentry
Wonder Man

Villains like:

Dr.Doom
Kang
Galactus
Magneto
Green Goblin
Apocalypse
Korvac
Masters of Evil
Thunderbolts

Marvel isn't just Iron Man , Cap , Thor

reply

I'm looking forward to A proper MCU FF, The Silver Surfer, Namor and Moonknight.

This is a great post.

There are still a lot of good story lines they can do that don't involve Cap, Iron Man, or Thor.

And who knows, those three actors could have some time away from the franchise and then realize that they miss being apart of it and come back. It honestly would not surprise me if we still get an Iron Man 4, Cap 4, and Thor 4 down the line. When that much money is involved, I don't think you can rule anything out.

Oh, and I want to see Karl Urban as the next Wolverine.

reply

I think I can stand seeing someone besides Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. But frankly I think when they reboot X-Men the first movie should have neither Wolverine or Magneto in it . Maybe just do Mojovision or Arcade as the villain in the first movie. It'd be something unique and different. Also Fantastic Four could be as epic as the Avengers in the end. Plus with Fantastic Four comes the rights to Silver Surfer who could end up replacing the Guardians of the Galaxy down the line. Silver Surfer is all about him going through space visiting planets. They'll have to do his story with Galactus first though.
