Rainn Wilson Calls Out ‘Anti-Christian Bias’ in ‘The Last of Us’

Rainn Wilson has obviously not heard of Gabriel from TWD. And there were resistance Christians in Man in the High Castle. And June from Handmaids Tale is a Christian. And the priest in From turns out to be good. Anna from The Expanse is part of the clergy.

These are just shows I've watched, and can recall. And much of my stuff is rooted in sci-fi or fantasy, so it often does not apply.

reply

Are you seriously implying that Gabriel is a positively portrayed character? 80% of his time on the show he’s been terrible.

and June is a Christian… are you on the wrong meds?

reply

How far in TWD have you got exactly? Gabriel gets better.

>and June is a Christian… are you on the wrong meds?

Yes, June is a Christian.

reply

I stopped halfway through the 2nd whisperers season, 8 or 9.

Yes Gabriel got kind of better…kind of. But surprise surprise, at the same time he doubts his faith.

Anyway, going to need some concrete reasons what makes June a Christian. Unlike TWD, I’m not a major fan of Handmaid’s, have only watched it in the background.

But merely being baptized as a baby or something doesn’t cut it, John 3:3.

reply

>I stopped halfway through the 2nd whisperers season, 8 or 9.

So what's wrong with Gabriel at this point?

>Yes Gabriel got kind of better…kind of. But surprise surprise, at the same time he doubts his faith.

He is still a Christian. Is still one at the end.

>Anyway, going to need some concrete reasons what makes June a Christian. Unlike TWD, I’m not a major fan of Handmaid’s, have only watched it in the background.

She literally describes herself as a Christian (Catholic specifically). Many of the flashbacks show this.

"Could there be a Bible-reading preacher on a show who is actually loving and kind?"

They are 20 years deep into an apocalypse! Kind and loving people would have all died years ago!

The extremist who would twist scripture in order to justify ambushing travelers and cannibalism would stand a much better chance to survive.

> They are 20 years deep into an apocalypse! Kind and loving people would have all died years ago!

If you buy into the BS apocalypse programs on TV. In reality people would flock to places of kindness and stability, instead of places as shown in most of these shows.

reply

Lol we had a whiff of scarcity in 2020 and that resulted in people buying up every sheet of toilet paper they could find and selling bottles of hand sanitizer for 25 bucks a pop.

In times of struggle, people will prey on each other like hungry ghouls.

reply

Yeah, at first, but this is years into it.
When it comes down to it, people want, need, comfort and low stress.

reply

This is accurate.

reply

Real Christians would not twist scripture for their own survival, zombie apocalypse or not.

reply

He isn’t wrong, shows and movies do this all the time, but if it was the other way around people would flip out

reply

Oh he can go fuck a goat

reply

Nah that’s what the pagans do in your Baal rituals.

reply

Hilarious

reply

It does seem that the corrupt religion trope does dominate media to the point.
It is interesting in the sense that the only places where people could be political active in the Middle East were driven into the Mosque, so if we destroy religion in the US ( and I am not a supporter or adherant to any religion, but neither am I hostile to it ) the more the goal of dividing people is met.

reply

Shut up, Rainn. Nobody likes you. Even your mama; that's why she named you "Rainn".

reply

The bias is there. Good.

reply

Who?
