What happend with the mutans?

Did I miss it? Did Charles explained what happen to them?

He refers to an incident that lead to their extinction that was supposedly started by him and he feels immense guilt over it. I don't believe it was ever fully explained what the incident was tho, at least not to my memory.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/sgSF7ho3cc4

Trump built a wall to block them from coming.

lolz

Unlikely. The buffoon can't even get the useless wall build for actual humans, or accomplish almost anything else, so I doubt he could have done something to stop those with abilities who could easily go after his Cheeto behind. 😆

Xavier told them all to go hide in the bathroom, and he forgot to let them out until after they'd died.

I am pretty sure the doctor working for the evil dudes said he was responsible for the extinction of mutants. Then he proceeds to explain how his plan was only meant to control them.

reply

The doctor was "poisoning" the world with a variation of corn syrup, used worldwide in various products that systematically eradicated the mutant genes from anyone that might pass them onto their children. And also, weakening / killing off the current crop of mutants.

Xavier also killed a bunch with one of his seizures - mostly the X-Men - described in the film as the Westchester Incident.

Basically what happened in the casino happened before and (presumably) killed Beast, Cyclops, Jean etc.

That's why Logan's plan is to get Charles onto a boat in the middle of the ocean, isolating him from the world until he dies.

That's a rather bleak way of looking at it, but true. I think Logan also wanted to give Charles better than a rusty tank for the end of his life. Isolated from people he could harm, yes, but also with fresh air and presumably a wonderful view. It sounded like a nice expensive boat. They do care about each other, in their own ways.

The rest of your explanation is spot-on.

reply

I agree Logan is still doing it for Charles from a place of love.

reply

And Logan probably wanted to get away himself, tired of his long life of fighting. Having time to be out on the ocean away from the pain of his past and people who want to kill him. It would be a sanctuary for them both. Despite the occasional storm and seizure.

Now I really want to see them on the boat together. At peace. 😭

Oh, and welcome to MovieChat, btw. I noticed that you're new and intelligent. 😊

reply

Haha. Thanks.

My podcast actually covered Logan at length when it came out.

The radio refers to an incident in Westchester, where “a few” X-men died. So it’s implied that Charles harmed some of them. It’s unclear if he killed all of them.

A possibility is that the doctor poisoned the mutants, killing them off that way. He mentions that he tinkered with the world’s food to kill off the mutant gene, sending it the way of polio. It’s unclear whether the doctor actually used this method to kill all the existing mutants or just prevent new mutants from being born.

So it’s unclear, left open-ended, as to what happened to all the mutants.

So basically, Days of Future Past was all for naught. The mutants were essentially wiped out anyways. Such nihilism...
