I consider them to be bad fan fiction, nothing more.

I don't know, it's mostly the very young crowd of teens that's dumb enough to like those shit films. I especially pity all the girls stupid enough to drool over Crylo Ren, and then cry when he croaked.

I'm pretty sure it's in the minus figures

They don't exist in my opinion.

Amen to that..

disappointingly, it is probably over 50% of the viewing audience considers them legit sequels. HAve you seen some of the defenses of these films; about 20% as I can estimate it say TFA is the best Star Wars film since the Originals. of that 20% about 50% say it is the best Star Wars ever. You underestimate the power of the mindless consumer.

I have only seen 7 and 8 and called it quits with Disney Star Wars films after that.
No, I do not consider the Disney films Star Wars films.
They are a rich, focus group based company who bought the name and checked off a bunch of boxes of "if we put this in the film and that and appeal to this demographic group and that one it will make money". Story telling and just focusing on putting out a great story is not their interest or goal at all.
I'm sure Lucas wanted to make money when he came up with Star Wars but at the end of the day he wanted to tell a good story....one he had passion in.

Disney couldn't care less about the story. They just want to churn out anything and try and make money off of it.

Their "sequels" basically negate and ruin the original trilogy.

No.
Not legit sequels.

reply

I was the same, Last Jedi was it for me.

To be fair I think even trying to make a Sequel Trilogy was being on a hiding to nothing. Whatever they tried was just going to break the end of ROTJ is some way. Lucas probably realised this (he did go back and forth on whether there was any further story over the years) and sensibly cashed in his chips avoiding any further flack.

From what I've read they really couldn't have made the conclusion any worst - the story of the Skywalkers is retconned to mean absolutely nothing.

Whether Anakin and Luke had existed or not, Palpatine was ultimately going to be defeated by his offspring / himself. What a joke...

What is a "legit sequel" ? Is that some sort of Industry accepted standard or just a term made up by disappointed Star Wars fan-dementalists ?

HES RIGHT...THIS THREAD IS BEYOND THE BASEMENT OF EMBARRASSMENT.

100% , as its fact these are sequels, Disney bought the rights from Lucasfilm in 2012, they now own the IP, just because u disliked them doesn't change that
