Do I need to see this before Infinity War?

Is it needed to see this in preparation for Avengers:Infinity War? Or can it be skiped? (I might not get a chance to see it)

reply

If you are concerned about this enough to ask, then you probably should watch it...

reply

Nope,this is VERY stand alone.

reply

While this is stand alone, based on the trailer for Infinity War the events at the end of Black Panther should have an impact in the events of Infinity War. Can't say more without spoiling.

reply

Sure, and it's possible that something from this affects infinity war,but they didn't try to tie it together. I recommend seeing this, but I highly doubt not seeing it will leave much of a gap in IW.

reply

How would we know? We haven't seen Infinity War yet.

reply

gold!!!!!!!!

reply

There isn’t much of a connection.

reply

Except for the hidden scene after the end credits, which, as usual, ties into the next movie (Infinity War.)

reply

And even then, you could skip this scene and not miss anything in Infinity War.

reply

Right. Some of the worst post credit scenes yet.

reply

Actually, yes, there were several moments in the movie that will directly tie into Infinity War (not going to list them here due to spoilers) not to mention the scene after the end credits which usually ties into the next movie.

Why wouldn't you get the chance to see it? Do you live in a third world country? I'm asking seriously, otherwise, you can just as easily see it on a half price night (most theaters in the U.S. have that, usually on aTuesday.)

reply

No,actually I live in Norway. The town I live in only have limited viewings of the film and I might not get the time.

reply

I saw this, and can't think of anything that would link this to IW, other than casual associations. Be vague, but what scenes are you talking about? Even the final post credit scene didn't really reveal anything new.

reply
the vibranium and tech getting out of Wakanda? I guess...
reply

At this point, that's purely speculative. I'm sure it will play some role, but it wasn't even really eluded too. I think they wanted to keep this very stand alone. I can't friggin wait until Infinity War!

reply
it was in the extended scene after credits. T'challa announcing it in the UN.
reply

But what was it that ties that to the IW. Like I said, I'm sure it will come to play a role, but nothing concretely cines from that. I guess I'm think something something like Thanos grabbing the glove and saying he'll handle it himself is a tie in,not a vague tech reference. Also, if the only tie to a movie is in the post credit scene, that's a pretty standard alone movie.

reply

because
1 - IW will be partially on Wakanda as seen in the trailers
2 -the Avengers now have access to Vibranium and Wakanda's tech; such as Winter Soldiers brand new Vibranium arm
reply

To be fair,I don't tend to watch trailers,do I didn't know that Wakanda was in the trailers, but that's a super loose tie. I'm not saying they aren't in the same universe, but these loosest threads of associations seem to prove my point more than counter it.

fair nuff

reply

Maybe. It’s unknown if anything important from this film will carry over to Infinity War, but T’Challa & Wakanda do appear to have a big role in Infinity War. Being familiar with BP’s setting and characters will obviously help you understand some of the possible references that will be made in IW, but until the big team up comes out we can’t say for sure if Black Panther is necessary to watch before IW.

In my opinion, unless you absolutely can’t see it, then wait for Infinity War. Although BP is a great film that I highly recommend, ultimately it’s a standalone film with a story entirely separate from the previous films. Now to reiterate, how much of an impact T’Challa and the events of this film will have on IW is yet to be seen. However, T’Challa will likely be an important character heading into the MCU’s future, so at least watch BP’s post-credits online if you miss the film.

reply

Nobody really knows but Wakanda is looking to be a vital place in Infinity War. Black Panther is probably going to be out on Blu-Ray/download at the end of May/early June, so you could just wait before seeing Infinity War. Granted, I know that's pretty hard to do when everyone is going to be talking about it when it releases haha.

reply

You don't NEED to see it for the story in Infinity War since this is pretty insulated from the MCU.

But you SHOULD see it because it's a good, FUN movie.

reply

I would say see it, because from the trailer SPOILERS it seems a large part, or at least a chunk of the film will be set in Wakanda. I also know a lot of the characters from BP will be in Infinity War. It's the last film before Avengers IW. I would say you need to see it.
