Does Hollywood have the guts to give this movie any Oscars?

I have yet to see this movie but many reviews say it should sweep all the major Academy Awards for 2023. I'd say for the last 5-10 years the Oscars have been nothing more than a disgusting act of virtue signaling and being painfully predictable. Each year all they do is award the "diversity" movie in every category to make sure the white person doesn't win. Does Oppenheimer stand chance at next year's Oscars?

🤣

reply

No woke, No Oscar. Period.

reply

Especially with the so called "diversity" guidelines for any Oscar nominated movies that I believes starts next year.

reply

Yep, and honestly those diversity guidelines have been in place for years. I followed a promising actor back around 2010, he was in a locally produced movie filmed in Austin, low budget but not many funny parts. He went out to Hollywood circa 2011 and couldn't get an agent, they would tell him the trend was towards asians.

reply

Also nobody who would be in Best Actress category. Emily Blunt is Supporting. Who would be Supporting Actor? Josh Hartnett? Matt Damon? Even under non woke rules they weren’t stand outs.

Cillian Murphy stood out among the actors of course.

reply

Best Supporting Actor would obviously go to RDJ.

reply

Ok fair enough. I didn’t think he had enough screen time to get consideration.

reply

I think it's less about screen time and more about prominence. He's basically the villain of the movie.

reply

If it had starred the Oprah Winfield and they called Opranheimer, then it would be an Oscar sweep.

Maybe we should wait for the Disney version.

Fuck Hollyweird!

🤨

reply

I think it will win at least a couple Oscars.

reply

"guts", as if this were a groundbreaking film from a radical filmmaker, lol. Clown.
It would have taken guts from The Academy to show some love to a film like Sorry to Bother You.

reply

I remember reading somewhere that they will award Oscars only to movies that have either a gay, a special needs person, or minority. "Call the Midwife" has all three so it is bound to get one.

reply

Sure it does.
