Question for those still watching

Now that the producers are saying they have plans for 10 more years, I've decided this will be my last season. I only stuck it out last season because I wanted to see how it would end. But now that they want to go the never ending soap opera route, I know I have to bail. It's just not holding my interest enough anymore. My question for those still watching is how much longer do you plan to watch? Are there are any hardcore fans who see themselves sticking it out for another decade?

reply

This show was once absolutely unmissable !!!!

I will continue to watch it but that thrill and anticipation of what is ahead watching this show is gone now !

reply

Yeah I feel the same way and to me it's just run its course. Of the 5 people who I use to discuss this show with, only one is still watching. This season will have to introduce something pretty spectacular to keep me watching beyond Rick's exit and I can't say I'm really counting on it.

reply

I think Andrew Lincoln leaving says all it has to say where this show is now !

reply

I'll be intrigued to see where it goes but it may not be "appointment" TV for me anymore after this season.

reply

I hadn't been enjoying it for the last 2 seasons...I actually stopped halfway through last season but did watch the finale.
This coming season I may watch until Rick has his leave...but I'm doubtful that I'll keep watching after that unless something drastically right happens.
They've lost their way with this series. I once felt so invested in these characters but between killing most of them off and neglecting anything meaningful with those that are left..: I have just grown bored and indifferent.

reply

Both WD series are no longer must watch, nor is the Talking Dead after. Between ridiculous plot points, character development, and poor writing/direction, it just seems pointless.

Pretty amazing how quickly it went from 'complete global sensation' to meh....

reply

It was the ridiculous plot points that make The Talking Dead unwatchable. For the host to never mention how silly the show has become, makes you realize how he's merely a cheerleader.

reply

I used to LOVE Talking, but it became a vehicle for all sorts of "stars"🙄 not even related to the show.

reply

I know what you mean. It was good for a while but then ran out of steam. Killing off Carl didn't help matters either.

reply

Completely agree
Bumping off Carl was a huge mistake

reply

Of course, even before Carl died, the previous season showed signs of wear and tear. The ratings spiked big time when Negan showed up, but then went down and down. I can see The Walking Dead lasting this season and maybe another but I would be surprised to see it last three more seasons.

reply

I am only watching in hopes that the group will return to the prison.

reply

I've been passively watching it for several seasons now and sometimes, I'd just fast forward because it was boring and nothing of note was happening. The only thing that's been progressing about the show is how worse it's been getting.
I'm not sure if I'll even bother with this season. Might I'll just read Erik Kain's reviews, instead.

reply

Based on all the responses it sounds like planning on another decade is wishful thinking on the producer's part. This can't be a cheap show to produce and with so many people having stopped watching, I can't imagine how it will be able to afford to continue more than a couple years.
