The only movie I can't understand why it's a hit.

I can understand every boxoffice hits, even I don't like it, examples: Transformers 2, Avatar, Harry Potter 8. Star Wars 7&8.

But I can't understand Barbie... it's boring and preachy. I can't think of a reason to explain why.

Great marketing, stupid press, bought critics, retarded audience, NOTHING ELSE to watch for these morons targeted by this shitfest.
+ their inability to judge a movie like this.

"Gret marketing." I wouldn't said it's great, but ok.

"Stupid press." What do you mean?

"Bought critics." I wouldn't said they are "bought', you've to remember Barbie is a very very feminism movie, it's produce, direct, lead by womens. Do you think critics have gut to bad mouth?

A WELL WRITTEN...FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING MOVIE WITH A GENIUS MARKETING CAMPAIGN...THROW IN RYAN GOSLING TURNING IN A SCENE STEALING OVER THE TOP ROLE...OH...AND NOSTALGIA...THAT IS WHY.

It was a bonafide hit mainly because it tapped into the LGBQT/Transgender community along with the super feminism storyline in a world that's simply filled with toxic politics that have divided the world and Gen Z ate this shit up.. It's true and people are certainly entitled to disagree with it cause I won't lose any sleep, but what else could it be cause it certainly wasn't for little girls like they'll have you believe??

Yup I agree. This movie was a success because it was the woke thing to do to go watch it. It could have as easily been a Netflix movie where the whole movie ultimately revolves around and serves one or two preachy monologues.

I don't even disagree with the bulk of the message, but I could have gotten the same talking to from a 30 second infomercial.

The fact that we live in a male-dominated society is a legacy of millions of years of primate evolution. The physically strong were the protectors and the leaders, and that was almost always men. While I agree we need to step away from this as physical strength no longer should be the primary attribute in deciding greatness, I'm not for sweeping history under the rug and denying the greatness that was man. Barbie's shock when she sees the US currency has only men's faces on it? Well, those were the leaders who founded the country. Maybe if the country was founded today, there would be more women on the currency. Those men started us on a journey where women could be equals. They belong there. The movie implied there should be an issue with that. I don't agree.

Sorry you don't share the sense of humour in the movie. I didn't find it preachy.

"Man the hunter" is a fallacy:

As well, we live in a different world now and men's ability to be physically tough protectors is really not the way to success. Intellect and social savvy are what matters, now. Unless you're a logger or some such, I suppose. But they don't rule our world, if you haven't noticed. They (the macho rural type) just thinks he does. THankfully I don't live with such people anymore.

Well the humor or lack thereof was a big part of the problem. It just wasn't that funny. It was an example of where poor writing is excused because it pushed a popular woke agenda. They could have had the same agenda with a hilarious movie and I would have a different opinion.

What sense of humor? I think I laughed a total; of about 5 times. And you didn't think that the "woe is me because I'm a woman" rant by one of the female characters was preachy? Give me a break. And yes men don't rule the world anymore; the women do now. Men just run it.

Same, it was mediocre. The Kens dance was so long and dull.

reply

Don't worry. People will forget about it the moment a crappy sequel comes out.

Are you a woman?

Just move on. Stop being bitter. Life is too short.

When there’s no other options something has to fill the void.

It’s the Taylor Swift of movies.

That is an amazing example!!!
