Not good. Personally I hate the cover art / posters.

reply

Yeah. They just look like screen captures. Boring.

DGG keeps on losing. Man's a fraud.

Halloween (2018) was the outlier, not even that great but was welcomed as a decent return to form after Halloween: Resurrection and Rob Zombie's efforts. Carried by a decent Michael Myers, the return of Jamie Lee Curtis in a leading role for the first time in 20 years, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the franchise/original and rebooting the franchise whilst keeping the beloved original as part of the new canon along with a new revamped score courtesy of John Carpenter. The movie played it safe.

In Kills and Ends the wheels came flying off. Awful movies.

actually in retrospect although Halloween'18 was ok(ish) it still felt abit like WTF? throwing out the long established canon of Michael being related to Laurie from the legit H2 (starring both JLC and DP with Carpenter producing), otherwise wtf would Michael be THAT obsessed over some random girl/woman? i guess JLC felt shed already played that through in H20 - which was actually a better 'legacy sequel' than H'18 (altho it was shat on by Resurrection)

Michael was never interested in Laurie in the new movies. In 2018 she shot Michael and he kept walking away instead of turning around and going after her. Then the whole final bit at Laurie's house was set up because the doctor drove Michael to Laurie's house. If that never happened, Michael probably would've been still in Haddonfield roaming around. Kills, the two were separate for most of the movie. But Hawkins said that Michael was never after Laurie (in 2018, he was only after her in the original movie). He never cared about her after she became the one that got away. Then in Ends, Michael only ended up at Laurie's house because Corey was there and had his mask. He wanted the mask back and was following Corey around. That led to a final fight between Michael and Laurie. Everything between the two happened because of others bringing them together. Michael did not care about her.

I haven't seen Halloween Kills or Halloween Ends, but you're right that Halloween 2018 was "okay". It's ironic David Gordon Green tossed out all the canon from Halloween 2-8, because Halloween 2018 would have worked much better (aside from Jamie Lee Curtis magically coming back to life after dying in Resurrection) with the lore from the previous films integrated into the new one... it really didn't make sense WHY Laurie would be so paranoid about Michael and have her house boobytrapped to "stop" him if he's been locked up for 40 years and she hasn't seen him in since the 70s. It also would have been great if they brought back her OTHER kids from the previously established "alternate" timelines, specifically if they found a way to get Josh Harnett and Danielle Harris to show up in Halloween 2018.

The original is the greatest horror movie of all-time. Exorcist 3 is among the most underrated movies of all time. But the franchise doesn't have it outside of those 2 movies.

"The Exorcist III" is great!

Great performance by Dourif.

reply

It definitely is.

No more Exorcist films ever, please just leave it as a sort of tribute to William Friedkin. I'm sure everyone would be on board with that.

Agree. It’s just that it’s a much different culture in 2023 than it was in 1972. Plus we have been bombarded with possession type flicks over the years so to give us another one - it will have to be a masterful director.. I’m sorry but DGG is not that. Tbh I doubt Friedkin or Carpenter could even make an Exorcist sequel work in modern day . We’ve been there, sone that one too many times before

And I heard last night that DGG is taking Hellraiser on next and another studio plans on doing a series based on the Halloween series.. ugh

My Question is: How long before DGG gets a hold of the HELLRAISER movies and remakes them to his likening??
