Is it appropriate to air this show during a PANDEMIC?

People are still dropping dead from covid and this show is about the decimation of the population by a pandemic. Is it in poor taste or tone deaf to air this during a pandemic? A lot of people are trying to recover from the deaths of loved ones and this show would just trigger a lot of sad/painful memories in viewers.

Yes

Art and story telling should never self-censor for things of the moment. Also, the notion of "tone-deaf" is horrible and is just a way of shaming people when they have ideas that make you feel uncomfortable. What a horrible and intellectually nullifying term.

reply

My only gripe is no one stopped them from making the show to begin with. That's where the idea needed to be stopped.

reply

It was a pretty decent series, that ended this week.

reply

I thought first episode was decent. Then a ton of boring garbage. Then last 2 episodes were pretty decent. Not great, but decent to watch.

I didn't like the whole travelling symphony performing Shakespeare they were cramming down our throats. Not my cup of tea so I'm probably being a bit harsh.

reply

It's just like the settling of the West, since the Bible was the most common book in the oldWest, if Shakespeare is the only thing people know, that's what they'll get and be happy to get it.

There's a lot to criticize in this series, but I give it a lot of points for reaching for something unique and different.

reply

It certainly is different and unique. And I'm sure if i lived through something like that then id enjoy the Shakespeare plays. But as a show, i plan to try the next season. Hopefully its more like the last 2 episodes.

reply

I was under the impression that there is not going to be another season? It seemed to me like it was wrapped up in the finale. If it continues it will be like a soap opera.

reply

I read that just recently as well. Better off.

reply

I agree , i also think it should be banned , can trigger fear and anxiety into viewers

reply

We've lived two years with Covid and I think reality would trigger more anxiety and fear than a tv series.

reply

It's about survival and coping as much as anything else.

And isn't airing. It's available on HBOMAX, so read the summary and decide if you wanna watch it or not. There's no force-airing involved.

reply

Nobody is fording you to watch it you know.

People die of absolutely everything, everyday, 365 days a year for centuries.

By your logic we should stop making shows about death in general.

Don't watch it if you think it is inappropriate

Yes, exactly this. By the OP logic, we shouldn't have murder mysteries, war movies, police procedurals, medical procedurals, or a great many other shows.

Quick, someone cancel ER! Don't they know people are still dropping dead from car accidents and other trauma and this show is about the decimation of the population by car accidents and other trauma?

Quick, someone cancel Law & Order! Don't they know people are still dropping dead from murder and crime and this show is about the decimation of the population by murder and crime?

reply

agreed

reply

.....so don't watch it? Not everyone is a big fat fucking pussy who needs to find I insult in everything. Fuck off.

reply

Damn, you people are salty as fuck, lol. Classic IMDB.

Well honestly, I'm really just talking about Naptown, Galiguy, and TrentnQuarantino.

I mean, I do agree that no one is forcing him to watching it (not to mention it's showing on HBO Max, so it's not like it's on local television or some movie being released worldwide), and I do think he is overreacting a bit. But I'm sure there a thousand nicer ways for you guys to reply back. Instead of calling him a "big fat fucking pussy" or a "wimp" or a "troll". I mean, imagine calling someone a "troll" or a "wimp" for not wanting to watch a show about the panini.

Are you guys eight years old? Fuck off already.

reply

Does being a save-a-ho make your pussy tingle?

reply

lol people are wimps beyond belief

reply

Of just trolling. Trolls are far worse than wimps.
