Over the last 50 years it has to be Shakespeare In Love. It really wasn't that good.
The English Patient was kind of boring. Driving Miss Daisy would be another one that seems to be lost in time...
However, before the year 1968 you had some real stinkers that won best picture. Full list is here...

Cavalcade and Cimarron are both rated a 5.9. lol... those are some really old films though. You can definitely tell that filmmakers got better around the 1960s. It's way too early to judge CODA though.
You can add Spotlight to the list too. Hardly anyone knows about that movie now.

shareI have to admit, I'm not familiar with Spotlight.
Although, considering it's subject matter, there's probably a reason why it's not talked about very much. Child abuse films have been done so many times. But at least Spotlight was based on a true story and has a very good cast.
English Patient is almost 30 years old and it stars 3 actors who all are STILL among the absolute biggest Hollywood actors. Not forgotten at all. Driving Miss Daisy stars the biggest African American actor ever. Not forgotten either.
The Artist as already mentioned is, though. I've never seen that movie brought up in a discussion disjointed from a discussion about the awards.
That may be true but were they good movies and do people still talk about them? I think they're alright, nothing outstanding, yet they won best picture. If you look at the year DMD was nominated, it was a rather weak year. But I did like Field Of Dreams and Fargo should have definitely won the year TEP took the prize. Fargo is a great film.
I rarely come across anyone that talks about TEP and DMD. Although, they do have a few recent posts on their MC boards.
I haven't seen The Artist, it would be hard for me to comment on that one.
Crash is not forgotten, not because it was good, but because it wasn't good and should have lost to Brokeback Mountain.

Forgotten? I never even heard of it until I happened to see a headline the day after the Oscars.
shareIt checked the boxes. That's how it won. At least the filmmakers didn't go apeshit and start bitchslapping the hosts.
shareGive the movie a chance, it definitely not worthy to be forgotten. I believe the streaming put him in a disadvantage position but maybe now after winning more people will watch it. It has the potential to be memorable as La La Land and Silver Linings Playbook - other two feel good movies. From my experience high quality 'feel good' movies like this have a longer lifeline than most movies.
If the movie will stay forgotten it is a shame because he doesn't deserve to be.
