X-Men Producer WANTS the X-Men in the MCU

Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine for the MCU.

Also, Fantastic Four.

reply

Good, I hope so.

This could also be perfect timing for Marvel to set up the next Phase of the universe. After Infinity Wars 1 & 2, I think (just speculating) Captain America, Iron Man and others are going to retire and pass the torch to someone younger....or die (depending on how tragic and dramatic Marvel wants to get).

So the main Avengers team will likely get rebooted (more like "refreshed staff") in about 5-6 years, and that's when you slowly introduce the new MCU X-Men.

reply

I believe they'll "scrap" the Avengers and focus on the Cosmic events more. Eventually calling back the Avengers actors for screen appearence here and there, but not in the same magnitude as we've been seeing.

reply

I can't watch the link right now but how would Hugh Jackman reprise his role? Some time skip plotline again? Or, would this be a different "canon" of the character?

Also, I thought Hugh said he's done with Wolverine? Why the change of heart?

I kind of like the X-Men being separate from the MCU--they have their own thing going and it works. They are putting the spotlight on so many unknown superheroes and the X-Men would be unnecessary if you ask me.

reply

Jackman has said for awhile now that he would be Wolverine again at least once if the MCU got the X-Men. He wants that Wolverine/Hulk fight BAD.....

reply

I hope it doesn't happen. I've loved The X-Men since I was a kid (especially the 90's cartoon and games) but I really appreciate how the MCU has showcased all these superheroes I've never heard of before. This series doesn't need any "mainstream" characters if you ask me.

reply

I hope they do something better with the X-Men. I liked the first movie a lot, but can't stand the rest of the franchise. It became too convoluted and sparse. Apocalypse was beyond horrid as well.

Cast new actors, give them a proper presentation and cut the needless drama down.

reply

Yeah, the last X-Men film I watched was Days of Future Past--I just can't stand that franchise anymore--especially because of Jennifer Lawrence--I fvcking hate her. I also don't care for this new "Millennial X-Men" direction they've taken with Millennial Cyclops, Millennial Jean Grey and so forth. I took one look at Millennial Hipster Nightcrawler in the trailers and just went: "No...just...no...".

Maybe I'm just getting old for this sh!t but this teen X-Men sh!t just doesn't cut it for me.

reply

"millenial hipster Nightcrawler"

ahah. Yeah Nightcrawler made me cringe a lot. He looks weird as all fucks.

reply

Yeah, what's with that fvcking hair?

What a shame they underutilized the original Cyclops--I actually enjoyed Marsden's portrayal.

reply

And the HORSE TEETH!!!!

Cyclops acted more like a whiny bitch than anything else. The way they killed him off from the team really pissed me off at the time.

Now that we are speaking of it... everything pissed me off in the X-men franchise with one exception: the way Sabre Tooth was depicted in the first movie felt just right out of the comics.

reply

I agree that Cyclops was whiny in the other films but he seemed pretty good in the first movie. EVERYTHING seemed better in the first movie. Well...I hated Rogue but most everything else was great.

reply

I have to rewatch that movie for the cheeeeeeze

reply

thats a bad idea me thinks.

reply

If X-men goes to the MCU I doubt that Hugh Jackman will reprise his role. The franchise simply doesn't fit and Marvel will probably reboot it just like they did with Spider-Man.

reply

I don't want the MCU to use him as Wolverine either. Give him another role. A villain maybe. Should be interesting to see him as the villain.

reply

The thing is... he maybe has no interest in playing another x-men role. I mean he is in the x-men franchise for 17 years.

reply

true true.

reply

^^^^This.

reply

no

reply

I think Hugh is done.

reply

Yeah he will quit. The film Logan is an indication of that.

reply

Please no, the MCU is fine/big enough as it is already - adding the inconsistent bullcrap that is X-men, would be a huge ass fail on their part.

I liked X-Men: First Class, nice movie - then Dofp was ok, and apocalypse was just bad. Even better, their current universe is not compatible with MCU.

reply

As soon as the X-Men reach the MCU they'll scrap whatever Fox done with them. Same thing with the Fantastic 4.

It's a difficult task to takle though. How do you approach the Mutants in the MCU? call them "advanced" [like they did with Scarlet and Quicksilver]and deprive them of what makes the Mutants unique? Make them pop up because of Infinity Stones side effects? Make them be alive but in hidding [and for what reason]?

Fantastic 4 is easier to tackle.

reply

I ask myself how Marvel would handle Magneto after
Pietro Maximoff died
.

reply

That's A GREAT QUESTION.

reply

They should retcon AoU and bring back Quicksilver. He didn't deserve to be killed by a mere bullet.

reply

Killing QS was straight out Bull Shit. No need for that at all.

reply

Maybe they can use Fox Quicksilver instead, and keep MCU Quicksilver dead. Fox Quicksilver was the best thing happened to X-Men since Wolverine.

reply

they both have the same name. It would be weird.

reply

They should add Superman to marvel... 😀

Would be interesting if only to see how the fanatics would try to make sense of that... Especially having spent over a decade rabidly defending their brand over the other... all that pointless sound and fury... 😉

reply

oh man... imagine the online crying.
