My sum of all fears is Disney buys the rights to DC...

DC is an underdog here but I'm rooting for them. I would hate for WB to sell the rights and Disney pick them up. Disney's writing is too family friendly and hokey for these characters. I don't want them treated like marvel characters at all.

reply

I can't see DC being sold to Disney.

"A big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff" The Tenth Doctor explains all.

reply

Disney plans to buy everything.

Soon there will be a world war. Disney vs Nestle.

Nestle will probably win since they control the world's food supply.

But then the entire world's food supply is synthetic food and chemicals because it's cheapest and the world population dies out because we all go full retard.

Like, having personalities? Character development? Having decent motivations? Ocassionally smiling?

"George, you can type this *beep* but you can't say it."

It is funny when a marvel fanboy uses big movie critic words. Marvel is a self aware joke created to poke fun at D.C superhero tropes. Marvel fanboys are the same people who think family guy is better than the simpsons. Iron man owes his existence to Batman. Show some respect for the real thing. This isnt foo fighters. It's nirvana.

reply

your brain hurts sometimes, doesn't it?

reply

Marvel is Aerosmith. DC is Led Zeppelin. You are much more likely to laugh at Aerosmith. But Led Zeppelin is better

reply

Nice anology.

reply

marvel is tiffany DC is debbie gibson
marvel is nkotb DC is nsync
marvel is 2unlimited DC is ace of base

reply

Marvel is Darkwing Duck DC is Ducktales.
Marvel is iphone 7 DC is iphone 6.
Marvel is the wheel DC is fire.

reply

Fire has done more for civilization than the wheel, so your comparison breaks down at the end.

reply

I always was tought that led zeppelin were rock legends till my girlfriend started plauing them. Their awful. Had you said black sabbeth maby but you went with the group that just screames "baby baby" a thousand times when they wern't ripping off other artists.

reply

disney are a horrid company, look what they do behind the scenes

reply

I sincerely doubt Disney would want the DC stable of characters. They have their own and having more would just dilute the brand.

Besides they are doing just fine with what their current game plan.

reply

I doubt Disney wants them. They already are churning out 2 to 3 movies a year. They don't need to flood the market. If anything they probably wish other comic book movies would stop.

I can imagine what Disney would do with DC if they bought it though:
I think they would shelve it so the market isn't getting saturated with comic book movies.
Once Marvel movies have run their course I could see Disney now unveiling their DC movie universe.
They would be amazing and be just as good as the Marvel movies.
It would be glorious to finally see DC live action movies that don't make me disappointed.

I love DC comics. Marvel is lame as hell.
But then Disney bought the rights and we have the MCU. Marvel has never been close to as great as it is under Disney.
Why wouldn't you want DC in their hands? Warner Brother does nothing but screw over DC.

Have you ever noticed that the people who say "DC is for adults and Marvel is for kids", are kids?

reply

Marvel movies are too simple. Too plsyed safe. Risk free.

reply

Problem is, no one can ever DEFINE this "Marvel Formula" when pressed about it.

Saying they have a formula is just an excuse.

Making good films. DC have yet to discover this secret to success.

reply

Marvel has the most super heros worth talking about but DC has the two best super heroes period. I don't want to loose either franchise. I love batman and superman the rest of DC can go to hell and I like the x-men. I'd hate to loose either franchise and I can't be alone. Why all the hate?

reply

It's not really an excuse, just Google marvel movie formula and you'll get a lot of articles explaining it. Check the link below, it applies to all of them so far.

And yet WB are desperate to copy them. The plot of Justice League is basically the same as Avengers - alien artefacts on earth and an alien threat that must be fought by superheroes banding together.

reply

same can be said that Civil war is a copy of BvS. so what? Thanos is just Darksied light. so what? And I don't believe JL will feel like a marvel film. It will just have optimism... which is where the story seems to have been going after BVS being the dark times.

reply

They have a political thriller under their belts, CACW was a divisive movie in terms of teams and the choices and actions of the characters, to the point where some people flat out despise characters they used to love, potentially making them less bankable, and they literally have a movie about a talking *beep* raccoon and a humanoid talking *beep* tree. Where in all of that are you getting "risk free"?

"George, you can type this *beep* but you can't say it."

- Those films already exist though, they are the Burton and Schumacher ones.

reply

Why do people always seem to assume that Disney is going to buy every single property and company on the planet?

reply

probably due to the volume of properties that they own. they own Star Wars, they own Indiana Jones, they own Winnie the Pooh, they at one time owned part of the Muppets. they have the monopoly on the fairytale market. they pretty much own everything including most of the Marvel characters.

I don't think Disney wants to buy them, i could be wrong and maybe they do want to have a monopoly on the comic book genre.. but i'm not sure it's the best thing for Disney nor DC comics. Also the question becomes, what will happen to the comics if DC is bought up by Disney? will they kill off a line of comics in order to push another (ie kill off X Men to push Inhumans?).

I think if anything, maybe Universal could be interested because they can't really do anything with The Hulk so why not buy properties that they can work with outright instead of begging for permission to make a solo Hulk movie?

Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today.

reply

Yeah. In fact, Apple is the one rumored to buy Disney!

reply

Disney buying the film rights to the DC properties would be just about the only think that could save the DCEU.

This thing has been a straight up fail from the start. And why the DC fans continually gobble this sh*t up without demanding better is beyond me.

A movie starring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman should have been amazing. Instead, Marvel smacks the piss out of it with their 3rd stringers like Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

That's just pathetic

reply

You thought antman was better than BVS? That's on you bud. Lol. Seems you're part of the problem. BVS was amazing.

reply

>>> This thing has been a straight up fail from the start. And why the DC fans continually gobble this sh*t up without demanding better is beyond me. <<<<

BINGO. You nailed it!

The ONLY way to save the "DCEU" is to fire everyone involved in that abomination and start over again from scratch. Disney doesn't need to be in charge of it, as long as the current crew is kept as far away from DC adaptations as possible. And YES that includes Nolan. He may have done a great job with Batman a decade ago, but he helped birth the "DCEU" and hired most of the people responsible for that garbage.

reply

I disagree though. BVS is my favorite comic movie by far. I don't understand how comic fans who like the D.C. Comics can have any qualms with what Snyder has done. His movies are straight from the comics. Hey have very comic book enemy's throughout. Comments like this make no sense to me. Garbage? Really? What else should BVS should have been? It was perfect!

It was perfectly AWFUL.

Shoehorning DD into the movie was a HUGE blunder, for starters.

reply

No DD was awesome!

Disney's writing is too family friendly and hokey for these characters.

Perhaps this statement works when the depths of entire bodies of work are considered.

When it comes to movie and television properties, however (mediums that more directly pertain to the target GENERAL audience than comics), then it doesn't get much more family friendly that Superman, Wonder Woman and earlier Batman incarnations.
