Gendry Theory

I think he has to reappear. It seems pointless to show him being sent off, never to return to the show in a not-too-satisfying conclusion.

With time running out and the plots getting narrower, I've wondered what his role could be. I just had a thought that maybe he never made it off of Dragonstone and he's been hiding out somewhere on the island all along. Then, maybe he gets involved in forging weapons out of Dragonglass. This would make use of his skill and give his character more of a purpose for returning to the show. The fact that he's Robert Baratheon's son doesn't need to even come up again (even if Dany found out, I think she could overlook it given the circumstances). It would be nice if he had a reunion with Arya though.

reply

He might. He still has a role in the books. I doubt it though, because Game of Thrones only has room for so many characters, especially now that the seasons are getting shorter (:'().

reply

His character might have been dropped, harder than a stone(heart).

reply

He will get picked up by the Euron's as a gift to Cersi.

reply

I'm not saying your wrong, but why would Cersie give 2 shits about Gendry? He just a speck from flea bottom with a claim that nobody would believe or back.

reply

Yeah, it'd be completely unlike Cersei to overreact about something going other than how she wants :-P

reply

Killing Robert's bastard children was Joffrey's idea, not Cersei's. Tyrion and Cersei even discussed it, and it showed that Cersei wasn't consulted and was probably against the idea (even she has some limits). Gendry isn't a threat to her, not least because he doesn't have the slightest interest in being king and detests the ruling class and its power games in general.

The idea that he's important enough for Euron to even notice his existence, let alone for Cersei to consider his head a sufficient gift to win a royal marriage, is frankly laughable.

reply

The "gift" is not Gendry. It's the Sand Snakes and particularly Ellaria Sand who poisoned Myrcella.

reply

It's possible. I think there were rumors floating around about him coming back, so that'd be cool.

reply

I remember some youtube channel had spy footage from last fall in Ireland and it featured the Gendry character next to a boat

reply

Hmm, that is interesting that you point out his blacksmithing skills would come in handy. Maybe the red woman coming south and using the king's blood spell will somehow come back into the story. I would love to see Gendry, Arya and Hot Pie reunite.

reply

Pretty sure we will see him by episode 4. Remember the dude he worked for was one of the only men left who could forge Valyrian steel weapons. Also I think he is in the preseason trailers as one of the people fighting in the circle.
