A very underrated gem...

Mel is a genius.

If you haven't seen this yet, it's a must see.
There's nothing quite like it.

We need more movies about the first encounters between different cultures. They don't seem to make them anymore.

7.8 IMDb and 93% Google users. Not underrated. Underappreciated. But definitely not underrated. And I 100% agree with you that Mel is a genius and that this is a must-see film.

7.8. Crazy. Imo this is a perfect film like the first 2 Godfather films.

Great film.

100%. He really needs to direct more films - hopefully Flight Risk is good.

Yeah. Probably a good thing. Maybe 1 Million Years BC, or Quest for Fire?

Just rewatched Quest for Fire the other day. Great movie I wonder if it's better we didn't get the sequels.

"Quest for Fire II: Quest for Decorative Fireplace"

It’s in my top 10 list for sure!

It's a really great thriller, yeah. I think it's neat that we get an action movie that is devoid of standard action movie trappings. Simply by setting it in a far-gone era we get footchases through the jungle instead of cars roaring through city streets. The other thing Apocalypto does really well - probably better than anything else - is its atmospheric steeping. We just soak in this unfamiliar world. It takes us to a place strange to us and shows us around. It's a little shy on character building - not absent, just low-key - but because the movie has such a great sense of place and style, it works.
