Awesome!

reply

Hell yeah!! LotR is my favorite movie.

reply

i have never looked at rottentomatoes & don't intend on it

reply

I love the LotR films, minor flaws & all, but greatest popularity doesn't necessarily equal greatest film.

As Roy Buchanan once said, "There's no such thing as number one."

It's hard to compare movies one to the other. Return of the King is a fine film, but so are The Godfather, Annie Hall, and Birdman.

reply

Agreed Lemmy. Really the only number one movie ranking that matters is an individual person's. Even if it widely considered a horrible movie by critics and viewers, that really isn't going to change the feelings it evokes from an individual.

reply

Not surprising but disappointing. I didn't like ROTK. The ghost army looked terrible, the Orcs were not as intense as the first two films, the delivery of "I'm no man" was cringey, and I really don't like Viggo Mortensen. His final battle monologue was underwhelming.

Then there's the ending. It just dragged on for too long and they didn't even have the final hobbit battle. The books were more satisfying.

reply

To be fair though, it is believed that all the Oscars for this movie was really for the whole trilogy.

reply

That's fair.

reply

I wish I loved it. But I was bored by the whole thing.

reply

I love Lord of the Rings but taking a glance at those polls there seemed to be a sad bias against older movies. 🤨

reply

I never liked the Godfather. I prefer Goodfellas. Though I still have never seen Return of the King. Not really into Lord of the Rings either though.

reply

I never liked the Godfather either..it insists upon itself.
