Everything Wrong With H5!

* Jamie is mute, until the third act, also what was up with that psychic connection between her and Michael, it added nothing to the story

* The clown cops and that awful cartoony music felt way out of place

* Dr. Loomis was a real ass to Jamie, at least he was a lot better in H6, seeing how that was his final film in the original series

* Killing off Rachel within 10 minutes

* The Myers House is not supposed to be a freaking mansion!

* The Man in Black, not being explained until the next film

* The film tried to be more like a Friday the 13th film, than a Halloween one

* The kill were really weak and speaking of Friday the 13th, even the teens looked like they were ripped right out of one of those films

* The ending is very mean spirited, although it's a horror movie, so that's at least acceptable and there's nothing wrong with a dark ending, it's just how it abruptly ended on a cliffhanger, without a good enough execution

* TINA!!

Why people say H6 is worse, I'll never understand. At least that one had a "so bad its good" feel to it.

Michael Myers crying.

Michael jangling his chains whilst sitting in his prison cell.

There is nothing wrong with Halloween 5. Tina was hot. Loomis is batshit insane. Barn scene is cool. But then again, I always had a soft spot for the barn from Friday the 13th Part 3, too. I also like Friday the 13th Part 5's barn scene, too. Guess I like barn scenes. Strange.
I am convinced that disliking this movie is equivalent to hating America.

reply

I don't agree with you but I'm glad you liked the movie.

reply

Yeah, H5 wasn't that good and is what caused the franchise to derail until H2018.

reply

Franchise already derailed when Part 4 was released upon this Earth. Might as well just go with it.

reply

H5 started the downfall of the franchise and this lasted for exactly 20 years (1989-2009) from Halloween 5 to Rob Zombie's Halloween II. H20 was the only "normal" Halloween movie released between those years.

If anything, they should've just stuck with the anthology idea from Halloween III, which was a way better movie than most of the actual Halloween films featuring Michael Myers, made onwards from 1988.

reply

I agree with the title of this thread. Everything is wrong with Halloween 5.

reply

Watch "Halloween Ends" and you'll gain a new appreciation for part 5 and some of the others.

reply

No way, even Halloween 6 and Resurrection were both way better than 5! The only good thing about 5, was the laundry chute scene.

reply

Don't get me wrong, H5 is flaming garbage, but at least it's still about the characters from Halloween 4. The idiot director didn't decide to make a Twilight-esque love story instead of continuing the story that was already setup.

Having rewatched this tonight for the first time in a long time, I agree with the ones I've bolded. The rest was okay (just okay). It's a 5/10 film for me.
