The Simpsons boss: Lisa Simpson is "possibly polyamorous"

Longtime showrunner Al Jean tells Metro UK the Fox comedy is looking to expand its LGBTQ representation, and Lisa Simpson might be part of it. "I see Lisa as president as possibly polyamorous," says Jean.

reply

I am so glad I stopped watching the Simpsons in 1999. As a result, I only have good memories.

reply

True, Simpsons doesn´t exist to me past season 10.

reply

She's not just an 8 year old SJW, she's also an 8 year old slut?

reply

I think "Lisa as president" implies the flash-forward sequence when she's an adult.

reply

Guess I'll have to read the article ...

Although the characters in The Simpsons are frozen in time, episodes occasionally show glimpses into their pasts and futures. In one episode, an adult Lisa is seen in a family Christmas card holding hands with two other women — before having a family with a male character, Milhouse.

In a 2000 episode, "Bart to the Future," Lisa is declared "America’s first straight female president" — presciently, she succeeded President Trump, from whom she inherited a budget crisis.

I don't see how past episodes presenting different futures affects the current show. Is he saying the Simpsons will jump a few decades ahead?

reply

What the hell is going on with the Simpsons these days?@?!?@!2/1

reply

Its not new. See Satan's response just above yours.

reply

It is new. Al Jean is lying if he changes a character and tries to say they were that way all along. And there's no "P" for "polyamorous" in LGBTQ anyway.

reply

It's not a change, he was simply answering with "possibly."

And it's not new. Did you not look at what Satan2016 quoted from the article?

"In one episode, an adult Lisa is seen in a family Christmas card holding hands with two other women"

Doesn't she consider dating a female in college in one of the future-episodes too? I recall that.

Its sad to see what happened to the Simpsons. Just common propaganda these days. sad. :(

reply

Was Simpsons ever "not liberal"?

reply

I guess when I was a kid the liberals were less fucked up. I used to be a liberal till i turned about 12 and a half and grew up

reply

So instead of, say, further developing your own liberal ideals, you took a reactionary stance influenced by cherrypicked, partisan anti-liberal hype?

I see you consider this to be mature, even though there's no actual thought given behind your decision, and a sub-teen is not in a position to make mature sociopolitical decisions.

Do you consider that to be a nonconformist or independent decision, to reverse course and conform to anti-liberal views?

As you can probably see, I don't like "team sports" applied to social issues. It's more understandable when applied to political party affiliation, but I don't like that either.

FYI, yes I would say the same thing to a young conservative who ditched the concept simply because he/she didn't approve of certain conservatives. Voting is one thing, ideals are deeper.

I would say to that one:
"So instead of, say, further developing your own conservative ideals, you took a reactionary stance influenced by cherrypicked, partisan anti-conservative hype?"

I'm an extremist. Conservative fiscal extremist and liberal social extremist... Capital-a Anarchism.

reply

If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain. My heart turned cold and my brain developed early i guess

This is a statement that meant more to me when I was younger than it does now. I like politics and Winston Churchill and I thought it was clever and rang true. I no longer feel this way. People believe in what is right regardless of their age. The repukelican pardy is wrong. There is no question, there is no argument. There will be a % of people who swing that way, and some Democrats might find it proper to give rps respect, but I sure won't.
