Well, he was just a normal guy who was put in the role of a hero without having a say about it. Granted, he was nosy and actually robbed the church for his own benefit. But that was the whole idea. When given the chance, he became a better person and actually saved the world, giving his own life in the process.

Not to mention, he was staying at the homeless camp, the homeless camp/church was the base of operations for the resistance. He initially assumed they were criminals. If he's a member/recipient of the group's charity, you bet your ass he has a right to know if they were up to something illegal.
Nada was thinking they were running a meth lab and/or they were in the black market selling stolen designer sunglasses. Like I said he should have minded his own business since he just got a job in construction which was better than nothing.
